As the Community Connections Coach for our client, you will play a key part in the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) project which has received funding until March 2023. The postholder will be responsible for leading on this project and the role will involve targeting socially excluded or isolated individuals in the local area and providing 1-1 support where necessary to help build their confidence in financial, digital and employment related skills. 

 

The ideal candidate will have had previous experience in a similar role, be able to provide advice on benefits, grants and welfare reforms and signpost individuals to a variety of services that are available to them. It will require someone who has strong and adaptable communication skills to ensure information shared is understood in addition to being able to motivate individuals into action. 

 

This role will be based at our client’s Health and Wellbeing Hub at Scalford Drive, Peterborough and is a temporary post until March 2023. There may be an opportunity for the right candidate to secure a permanent position with our client. 

 

Our client is looking for someone 

  • To liaise with and coordinate customers referred to the BBO Community Connections project and enrol where appropriate, in order to deliver high quality 1:1 and group coaching sessions to improve financial confidence and employability skills 
  • To develop and take responsibility for the assessment of need, design and delivery of budgeting advice in order to maximise income (both 1:1 and group settings)
  • To ensure robust and accurate customer records are managed to ensure continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation, including inputting information into a database
  • Establish, develop and maintain a framework of inter-agency partnerships with external statutory and voluntary organisations making ‘warm’ introductions to support clients
  • To be responsible for the formulation, implementation and development of departmental policy and procedures
  • To provide safeguarding of self and customers relaying any concerns to line manager/ manager.
  • To work as part of the wider CKH Communities team and providing support on team-wide projects and tasks as and when required. 

 

Requirements

  • Ability to manage own workload to meet the demands and ensure performance targets are met
  • Proven ability to use websites and software to undertake calculations and checks on benefits, energy tariffs and draw-up and offer associated budgeting support
  • Excellent communication skills with a supportive, non-judgemental attitude
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage visits and appointments
  • Highly organised and motivated    
  • Flexible approach to changing work priorities
  • Driven to achieve goals and deadlines
  • Strong ability to influence and communicate at all levels to deliver menu based and demand led support / training
  • Be able to maintain boundaries between professional and personal life 
  • Be proficient with IT and Microsoft Packages including Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint 
  • Have a relevant Coaching qualification or have the willingness to undertake the relevant qualification. 
  • A full, UK driving license with access to a suitably insured vehicle 
  • An enhanced DBS check
