Job scope:
To facilitate the educational partnership between home, service, wider service community and Local Authority, by support, liaison and negotiation; and where conflict arises to act as a facilitator in finding successful resolutions.
Job Responsibilities:
General Duties:
Actively promote Salutem Care and Education and service vision, aims and objectives.
Comply with all Salutem Care and Education policies and procedures.
All staff commit to the safeguarding and promoting of the welfare of children and young people.
Adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
Attend relevant young persons meetings, as well as any other relevant meetings associated with this role.
Meet with service staff, young people and parents to identify problems and possible solutions.
Complete administrative tasks such as writing up case notes, sending letters to parents, preparing reports and building a rigorous evidence base of intervention.
Report any welfare and/or child protection concerns as per Salutem policies and procedures.
To be a reasonable individual nominated to be the safeguarding lead for the site
About the role
The purpose of this post is to:
Improve the emotional and mental health of children and young people .
As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will be responsible for:
Providing low intensity interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression and/or behavioral difficulties.
Undertaking specialist mental health assessments of cases in order to formulate, plan and deliver a range of psychological interventions.
Providing support, advice and consultation to professionals, particularly service staff.

To work alongside existing staff and/or other support staff in planning and implementing individual learning plans and making reasonable adjustments to promote academic achievement for students with SEMH
To work with individual young people & groups both within and outside the service
To plan and draw up approaches that could be used to support individual and groups of young people both within and outside the service setting
Help young people and staff to manage and resolve conflict by using and teaching them a variety of strategies.
To coach, train and support identified staff, by modelling approaches within mainstream classrooms to support young people with identified SEMH, with a view to staff feeling confident and able to use the approaches following the withdrawal of the Mentor
To support the development and delivery of whole service systems that use restorative approaches to conflict and/or trauma informed approaches to behavior management.
Other accountabilities:
Full UK Manual Driving Licence Required
Skills and Experience relevant to post
Degree standard of education desirable
Knowledge or desire to learn about whole school systems that use restorative approaches to conflict
Some understanding of Attachment Theory, Child Development and a Trauma Informed Approach to Behavior Management
Experience of working with adolescent young people
ability in working with parents
ability to manage paperwork, write reports and keep to deadlines
ability to work as part of a team and to support the development and consistent practice across HHA,
