The Purchasing & Materials Controller will be working with key international suppliers to ensure deliveries and stock fulfilment are managed efficiently with the ultimate aim of meeting customers' expectations

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing SME manufacturing business in Huddersfield. The business operates in the industrial engineering sector, importing and exporting stock and bespoke products internationally.

Description
Develop strong relationships with suppliers with regular liaison to ensure the timely delivery of materials and services
Using the company MRP system to analyse stock levels and generate useful reports to ensure the correct level of materials are available
Raising and amending purchase orders ensuring due dates are accurate and up to date
Maintaining accurate MRP system data for supplier contacts, lead times, price lists and economic buying quantities
Raising purchase requisitions and liaising with suppliers to find the most competitive prices
Working closely with the Engineering team and the Key Account managers to ensure customer schedules are met, communicating delays and identifying any issues for production/sales
Communicating with Logistics to track progress on deliveries including goods being imported
Providing support and cover for import and export documentation, interacting with our preferred forwarding agents
Working with goods inwards and engineering to process returns and warranty claims to suppliers
Maintaining the approved supplier list for the company
Monitoring supplier performance through KPI's and identifying areas for concern and opportunities for continuous improvement
Developing and updating company procedures for purchasing as part of continuous improvement across the businessProfile
2+ years' experience as a purchaser in a similar role
A-Level or equivalent qualifications
Previous use of MRP/ERP systems
Good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Commercial awareness
Desire to learn and progress
Tenacious and forward thinking, proactively working to fulfil customer requirements
Strong team player, willing to support other areas of the business as required
