Logistics and Warehouse Manager

Here at Midland Building Products we are seeking a Logistics and Warehouse Manager who will use their strong industry knowledge to to efficiently plan delivery routes, analyse and manage the transport operations within the company, and exercise cost saving initiatives without impacting on customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

* Plan and analyse delivery routes on a daily basis to maximise efficiency and minimise costs

* Manage 4 drivers, including holiday systems for cover

* Manage KPI's for accident levels

* Create and utilise a live delivery calendar available for sales staff to work with

* Liaise with sales and production staff to ensure orders are ready and delivered efficiently and on time (COTIF)

* Liaise with the Warehouse Manager and Stock Controller to improve and maintain a smooth transport operation

* Negotiate fuel, vehicle, maintenance and repair costs with suppliers

* Negotiate agency staff rates

* Negotiate external vehicle hire charges

* Maintain detailed and accurate records of vehicle accidents, ensuring that vehicle costs and excesses are covered by insurers

* Maintain an analytical data source showing a rolling trend in our delivery patterns, which can be utilised to formulate a future delivery framework

* Maintain an analytical data source showing anomalies in our delivery system that can be used to implement best practices

* Observe and implement continuous improvement measures in order to significantly improve our HGV accident rate

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* Experience with efficient route planning and optimisation

* Previous experience within a warehouse management position

* Strong negotiation background

* Strong analytical skills

* Experienced with Excel

* Experience in establishing systems to identify and limit loss-making or non-profitable deliveries

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

* Able to effectively work under pressure and autonomously

* Knowledge of route planning software

* Able to motivate and manage the team

* Able to effectively discern, isolate and remedy poor or costly delivery practices

ADDITIONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

* Exceptional organisation skills

* Good Communicator

* Flexible to meet the needs of a seasonal business

* Experience in building a fully operation logistics system from the ground up

* A qualification in computing would be advantageous

The right Logistics and Warehouse Manager will have previous experience in a warehouse and dispatch environment, working to ever changing deadlines, wanting a new challenge, and confident with creating and implementing change to support the growth of the company.

This is a full time position for 40hours a week Monday - Friday, but flexibility is required to meet customer demand.
