We are an international provider of evaluation, research, consulting, programme management and communications services. We work closely with governments and policymakers, the European Commission, NGOs and charities across the UK, Europe and internationally. Our mission is to do work that makes a difference. We help our clients make decisions, build capacity to implement and communicate change, and deliver bespoke services. Our teams of researchers, policy experts, programme managers and communications specialists help our clients to address today's most important societal challenges. We are an employee-owned organisation that gives 1% of our profits to charity each year. Our working culture promotes personal and career development and you will be part of a large international group with offices worldwide. Ecorys operates a hybrid working policy and flexible and part-time working is fully supported. This role can be based in any of our UK offices. We are an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
About the Role:
Our Policy and Research team are currently looking for Research Assistants to work in the area of International Development monitoring and evaluation. We are a team of 100+ research and evaluation specialists delivering impactful work across a variety of clients.
Our work ranges from small-scale research projects on key policy topics, to large-scale multi-annual monitoring and evaluations of policies and programmes for national, European, and international clients. As a Research Assistant, you will develop and apply your range of quantitative and qualitative research skills including desk-based research, literature review, survey design and implementation, in-depth interviewing, focus groups, and qualitative and quantitative data analysis. You will become familiar with research analysis software such as NVivo, SPSS, Stata and/or R.
As you develop in the role, you will have the opportunity to grow your client facing and business development skills by contributing to work winning activities. You may also be able to develop a specialisation into qualitative or quantitative methodologies, or thematic or policy areas. There is also the prospect for some national and international travel when permitted.
Over the last two years, our Research Assistants have been involved with a broad range of projects, such as work for the UK government's Foreign and Commonwealth Office to evaluate a range of social and economic development programmes; support to the European Commission on education and employment initiatives and a range of international monitoring and evaluation projects in areas such as education, health, security, humanitarian aid, economic development, and biodiversity. As well as embedding technical learning and development, this has enabled and supported a progression path to Research Manager.
We are recruiting for new Research Assistants to bring diverse talent for roles based in all three of our UK offices. Following the success of last year, we will again be holding remote selection events in the summer of 2021 for roles starting in September 2021.
Your continued development will be supported by career development planning, mentoring and regular reviews.
You may also have the opportunity to work across markets supporting our European and UK work.
Role Responsibilities:
You will have experience of qualitative research, including conducting in-depth interviews face to face or by phone, and note taking or moderating of focus groups along with experience of quantitative research including designing, analysing, and writing up findings from survey data, and other data sets from either your studies or previous work experience.
You will need to demonstrate good time-management and project management skills being able to plan and prioritise your work
to deliver tasks and meet deadlines. You will need experience of writing up and presenting research findings in a variety of written and verbal styles. You will also need strong organisational and administrative skills.
You will need to demonstrate personal leadership through effective problem solving and issue resolution. You will explore innovative ways of working and adaptability in your approach.
You will also have an interest in your own self-development along with a genuine interest in the businesses' key social and economic policy areas.
