On Line People are looking for a Mobile Caretaker to cover multiple NHS locations across Bedfordshire. You will be ideally based in Luton or Milton Keynes.
This is a 12 month contract which may be extended. Full training and a van will be provided. It is essential that you have a full clean driving licence and a Standard DBS is preferred.
Hours - We have 2 roles available:
1 x Full time working Monday to Friday 8;30am until 5pm
1 x Part time role working Monday to Thursday 9am until 1pm
Salary - Paid at GBP9.73 per hour
Responsibilities;
1. Ensure that the buildings are well maintained, i.e. heating, lighting, ventilation and fire alarms are operational, testing where required and reporting any potential hazards or required repairs using designated procedure and ensure that all corridors, stairs, stairwells and fire exit doors are kept free from obstructions.
1. Work as part of a departmental team understanding the inter-relationships between own team and other services and support and assist their work.
1. Responsible for opening and locking of premises, including any daily security procedures regarding keys, equipment etc. ensuring unnecessary appliances/equipment are switched off and that there are no fire or security risks.
1. Co-operate and assist with other works teams as required and with other members of staff to maintain a smooth running and effective service delivery.
1. Undertake a range of general and specialised cleaning duties including but not limited to laundry and associated duties, telephones, internal glass, window blinds, curtains changing, clearing drains and gulleys, floor maintenance and where appropriate the operation of specialist equipment.
1. Use specialist hand tools (screwdrivers, spanners, socket sets, allen keys etc.) to remove radiator covers, guards, light fitting diffusers and ventilations grills as necessary to clean, ensure that they are refitted correctly prior to reuse of the room/area.
1. Undertake minor daily maintenance/estates duties i.e. clearing of blocked sinks/drains, replacing light bulbs, tubes, plugs and fuses, minor repair and redecoration work, reading of meters, completion of the local log book, and testing of designated systems in line with guidelines and procedures.
1. Ensure permits to work and associated documents are in place and complied with.
1. Undertake heavy duty cleaning as required.
1. Ensure that grounds, pathways, car parks, entrances are clean and tidy and well maintained; including moving snow, light gritting in the winter months if necessary.
1. Work at heights using a step ladder or appropriate platform in order to reach light fittings, ventilation grilles and to clean up to and including ceiling levels of rooms.
1. Ensure the use of machinery, equipment and materials complies with manufacturer's instructions, legal requirements and local procedures and that it is maintained and cleaned to the highest standards dismantling and assembling equipment as necessary
1. To ensure at all times you work and deliver your responsibilities in compliance with HSE Guidelines for Health and Safety legislation, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 for the health, safety and welfare of all employees.

1. Receive sorting and distributing of stores, mail, parcels etc. within identified premises ensuring where appropriate that correct documentation and storage requirements are met.
1. Preparation of rooms for clinics and meetings; moving/transporting furniture and equipment within premises.
1. Ensure the correct collection, transportation and storage of all waste items in line with company policy.
1. In the event of a lift breakdown ensure the safety of anyone who may be trapped, giving reassurance when appropriate and reporting immediately via relevant procedure.
1. When appropriate, monitor external agencies while working within premises.
1. Ensure the use of machinery, equipment and materials complies with manufacturer's instructions, legal requirements and local procedures and that it is maintained and cleaned to the highest standards dismantling and assembling equipment as necessary.
1. To respond to any cleaning emergency outside of domestic services working hours such as general spillages, hazardous spillages in public areas.
1. Work as part of a departmental team understanding the inter-relationships between own team and other services and support and assist their work.
1. Ensure that work is undertaken in a timely manner and that appropriate records are updated through the requisite system:
* Meter Readings and Recording
* Medical gases
* Fire Alarms Testing
* Meal trolleys
* Legionella/water flushing
* Emergency situations
