Purpose of the Role

To effectively manage the manufacturing function of the business, ensuring on time delivery and customer satisfaction. To improve production processes and efficiencies. The suitable candidate will have a strong background in sheet metal fabrication and finishing.

Accountability

You will report to the Managing Director on the day to day running of the shop floor.

Core Responsibilities

* You are responsible for production planning.

* You will be responsible for ensuring that shop floor resources are available to meet customer delivery dates.

* You will be responsible for managing the training program of all shop floor employees, ensuring adequate availability of skills where required.

* You will be response for conducting annual employee appraisals and formulating scheduled plans for individual and collective improvement. You are responsible for the follow-up and feedback of all actions established.

* You will liaise with the Production Supervisors on a daily basis to understand current workload and allocated resources where they are required to ensure on-time delivery.

* You will be responsible for shop floor recruitment and employee induction procedure.

* You will be responsible for overseeing shop floor employee holiday and sickness recording.

* You will be responsible for managing the Health & Safety activities of the business and for ensuring full compliance.

* You will be responsible for managing the factory based apprenticeship programme, including recruitment, training and on-going performance appraisals.

Duties

In conjunction with the Production Supervisors you will assess the loading of the factory and create a weekly/monthly plan to ensure that customer delivery dates are met. It will be your role to train and work alongside your colleagues when the new production planning software is implemented to ensure that on-time delivery is achieved.

You will assess the production training matrix to ensure that a structured training schedule is rolled out and adhered to.

Work alongside Owners, Directors and Production Supervisors to implement new plant and processes.

Annual employee appraisals to achieve on going staff satisfaction and growth.

Daily and weekly production schedule meetings with Production Supervisors to ensure the production plan is adhered to.

Employee recruitment, interviews and inductions.

Oversee production holidays and sickness.

Assist Production Supervisors to resolve failures within the production process.

Trouble shooting problems on the shop floor.

Liaising with Shop Floor management to develop new products and implement new manufacturing processes.

Purchasing of raw materials.

Assessing and installing new machinery.

Maintenance of current plant (where applicable).

Work directly with S&B Training Manager, apprentices and the apprenticeship providers to ensure adequate on job learning/training.

As a Manager

1. You are responsible for the administration tasks that arise from the core duties listed above such as:- HR/Personnel responsibilities for your direct reports e.g. Holiday records, absence/return to work duties, regular appraisals, job descriptions, induction procedure and absence cover.

1. Raising purchase order and authorizing purchase invoices for payment that arise from your responsibilities and duties listed above.

1. Orderly, timely and logical filing of electronic documents for your department/function

*Please note, you may at times to be asked to do other work as required by senior management to help with the development of the business. This may involve visits to customers and suppliers both in the UK and overseas.

Hours of Works

40 Hours Per Week (Mon-Fri 8.00 to 4.30pm)
