Chef Job Duties:

  • Cooks customer orders in accordance with the agreed menu
  • Work closely with the Head Chef and other members of the kitchen team to maintain effective, efficient and quality service
  • Implement and over-see all compliance with BIIAB, Food Standards Agency and policies related to kitchen hygiene, food storage, contamination prevention, Health & Safety and allergy requirements
  • Record and manage all kitchen related records in relation to food stocks, usage, wastage and safe disposal
  • Employs food safety best practices and makes sure that all kitchen staff members do the same
  • Over-see, report and accountable for all kitchen equipment and associated attachments, crockery, utensils ensuring that they are maintained, fit for purpose and meet all required safety and hygiene standards set out by the owner
  • Manage and record all dry food stocks, purchase orders and minimise wastage. This will be linked to the profit-sharing scheme
  • Selects choice ingredients that will give dishes the best flavour focusing on fresh produce, high quality and consistent
  • Experiments to come up with new specialties that will draw diners into the restaurant focused quality, fresh and high margin dishes
  • Keeps up with trends in cooking and the restaurant business to ensure that guests have a positive experience
  • Maintain appropriate qualifications and training
  • Supervise kitchen support staff
  • Works quickly and accurately during busy periods, such as weekends and evenings
  • Occasionally takes on extra duties, such as cleaning, when the kitchen is short-staffed or the restaurant is particularly busy
