The Company and the Role:

Wessex Cancer Trust is a medium-sized charity which offers support to people affected by cancer, their families and friends. The charity operates in Hampshire, IOW, Dorset and Wiltshire and runs 4 drop-in support centres and a range of outreach projects in hospitals and in the community. The charity is driven to evolve and grow in response to the needs of their service users. The challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic have proved how well they can achieve this.

Their new CEO joined in July 2020 and as they head towards their 40th birthday this year they are now planning how to use the knowledge and experience they have gained during COVID, to reach more people in more ways.

The Trust relies on voluntary income to fund its work, raising money through fundraising activities and via a trading subsidiary of charity shops. In 2019 it had a combined turnover of GBP1.9m.

They are now seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Part Time Fundraising Assistant to work from their office on the Isle of Wight. The position is for 15 hours per week working Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

You will report into the Head of Fundraising and Communications and is an exciting position which designed to allow Wessex Cancer Trust to grow and develop their diverse fundraising

income streams.

You will support the fundraising team to deliver a wide range of fundraising activities

including events and campaigns, as well as helping to maximise their supporter journeys, providing exceptional donor care.

Key Features of the Role:

* To assist with the organisation of events, which will include booking venues,

arranging licenses, organising entertainment, transport, sourcing and thanking raffle

prizes etc.

* To work with the marketing team to prepare engaging promotional materials for

events.

* To assist with the recruitment and stewardship of event participants and ticket buyers, which will include responding to all queries in a timely fashion, building relationships

by phone and email, encouraging and motivating participants to meet and exceed

targets.

* To be the first point of contact for email, telephone and face-to-face fundraising

enquiries. These will include requests for merchandise and other fundraising

materials, fundraising queries and volunteering opportunities. Respond to all requests within 48 hours, recognising the opportunity to build relationships and encourage fundraising support.

* To attend events as required (including some evenings and weekends).

* Set up and manage groups and content on Wessex Cancer Trust social media

channels as needed including our #TeamWessex Facebook group.

* To run and analyse monthly finance reports to ensure donations are recorded correctly and the appropriate thank you has been sent and monitor and report on sponsorship collected online and offline.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

* You should be an accomplished Administrator ideally with experience of working in a supporter or customer care focused environment including experience of face to face contact with customers/supporters.

* Experience and good working knowledge of using a Fundraising/Access database, preferably Salesforce.

* Good attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.

* Proven track record in administering charity fundraising events preferable

* Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to deal with people at all levels and in all walks of life, on the telephone and by letter/email.

* Demonstrable initiative and determination.

* Ability to work alone and as part of a small team.

* Excellent computer skills: confident using Microsoft Office, email, internet etc, able to create and maintain spreadsheets and ideally able to use Mailchimp

* Ability to prioritise and organise workloads

* A full UK Drivers Licence and a reliable vehicle

With the impact of Covid, this next year will be crucial for Wessex Cancer Trust. This is an important role within the charity, supporting the Head of Fundraising and Communications and her team to ensure that they can continue to support thousands of people affected by cancer.

They offer a competitive salary of around GBP11.55 per hour with contributory pension scheme, 25 days holiday, a friendly open plan office, employee counselling helpline, cycle to work scheme, mental health first -aiders and personal development programme and free parking.

15 hours per week but some evening and weekend work may be required which may require travel.
