ABOUT THE ROLE:
We have an exciting opportunity to be part of something new - Nominet are seeking a talented Lead Data Analyst in our newly created Insights Team. Reporting to the Head of Insights, this is a great role to make your mark in showing how data, reporting and analytics can have a positive impact on understanding behaviours and developing the right strategies to drive the business forward. The Lead Analyst will be the 'go-to' person for a team of and will use their experience to inspire, guide and coach all aspects of insights and analytics.
This is also a hands on role, conducting analysis on multiple sources of data, developing analytics solutions to deliver value through understanding performance of each business area and actioning this insight by building recommendations.
The Lead Analyst will play an important role in ensuring the team maintains the right mix of skills and remains up to date with the latest tools and technologies particularly in the areas of data visualisation, reporting and dashboarding. Owning the delivery of insights and analytical projects through self-serve, direct projects and supporting practitioners in other functions, the Lead Analyst will ultimately shape all aspects of the outputs day to day through effective management, scheduling, and professional coaching of a team of analysts, delivering against a 3-year plan.
This role can be based remotely with meaningful contact occasionally at our offices in Oxford.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Having gained an excellent understanding of Nominets' data, you will work closely with the Data Scientist to ensure that all models are optimised to establish best practise to deliver professional analytical solutions.
You will also:
• Set the standards for analytical techniques and application
• Drive analytical modernisation, automation, streamlining, and productionisation of analytical outputs
• Drive Visualisation by bringing the story within our data to life by creating visually engaging dashboards and reports and using storytelling in a commercial context - exemplary business application is essential
• Ensure that analysts have the right tools and skills access to complete their work, as well as keeping the analytical unit in production
• Build relationships with senior stakeholders across the business- being a flag bearer for data and analytics as well as supporting the Head of Insight to drive the changes required to support the business
• Ensure the right analytical /data techniques are applied, that the right data is used to create outputs, and that outputs are accurate, appropriate, timely, robust, accessible, and focussed on insights not numbers
• Monitor the quality of analytical skills and analytical outputs delivery e.g. the optimal methodologies and techniques to deliver insights, models, scores, benchmarks, patterns and trends, alerts, identifying opportunities and driving a shift in highly visualised VALUE ADD analytical outputs
WHO YOU ARE
A naturally influential manager, you will have the ability to lead the Data team with your strong analytical and data skills. Having tenacious attention to detail, a natural curiosity, and a constant desire to raise the standards of analytics at Nominet are key in this role. Ideally with extensive experience as a commercial analyst, you will have managed and coached an analytics team through analytical upskilling, behaviour, tools, and delivery changes to meet business expectations. Its really important you are able to present to senior clients, championing the data and analytics agenda with the ability to deliver insight and data in an engaging way, and tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences, so that you are able to bring data to 'life'.
We are looking for:
• Exemplary management and coaching skills and demonstrable proof of meeting delivery deadlines, every time.
• Demonstrable capability in delivering insights, models, scores, benchmarks, patterns and trends, forecasting, highly visualised VALUE ADD analytical outputs, and in delivering and driving adoption of predictive and prescriptive analytics
• A wide knowledge and understanding of analytical techniques and tool, analytical principles, commercial applications of analytics essential - data set acquisition/ data collection expertise a bonus.
• Expertise in leading data analytics, data governance and BI project delivery
• A thorough understanding of the data lifecycle, basic analytics, and a range of analytical techniques e.g., logistical regressions, CHAID etc and calls for an understanding of data manipulation and preparation skills, advanced excel etc.
• Advanced skills in statistical, mathematical, and predictive modelling, excellent understanding of data types and data environments
• A strong academic background including a degree (BSc/or equivalent) in a numerate subject such as Analysis, Data Science, or Maths with specific analytical qualifications
• Extensive experience of CRM, MI/reporting and use of analysis tools/techniques
