Lecturer in Joinery

Are you an experienced industry professional looking for a new challenge and career change? Have you considered teaching, and passing on your skills to the next generation?

We have a vacancy in the Joinery department of our Construction, Engineering & Energy team working in our state-of-the-art Construction Centre at Lancaster & Morecambe College.

The College is seeking to appoint a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic individual with recent teaching and/or industrial experience in Joinery. Working in a supportive team, you will have experience of working with young people and a keen interest in their development into the profession.

You will plan and deliver teaching programmes using a flexible range of engaging strategies to promote learning, taking responsibility for the continual development of your own teaching and related curriculum. A flexible approach with good interpersonal and communication skills are essential to the role.

Lancaster & Morecambe College is working in partnership with the Education and Training Foundation to deliver 'Taking Teaching Further'. This additional funding provides a unique opportunity for industry professionals to transition to a dual professional teaching role at the College. The funding will support your comprehensive on-the-job training programme, including initial teacher training qualification; individual support and mentoring; and a reduced teaching workload in the first year.

The role, and associated funding, is open to external candidates who have worked for a minimum of 3 years, and within the last 18 months, in the engineering industry, and who do not yet hold a substantive teaching qualification. We would expect you to have a keen interest in the development of young people entering the profession and be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and teaching potential.

Benefits include defined benefits pension scheme, generous leave entitlement, opportunities for continuing professional development and good staff support services.
