Job Title - Cognos Developer

Function - Business Intelligence (Finance)

Location - Alfreton or Nottingham, with working from home options

Type - Permanent (full time, 37.5 hours per week)

Salary - GBP40,000 - GBP50,000 per annum

We have a rare opportunity to join our Business Intelligence team as a Cognos Developer. NHS Supply Chain is a GBP2.1bn turnover healthcare / supply chain business which has ambitious growth plans in place and is set to increase its market share from c. 50% to 80% over the next 2-3 years.

Underpinning this journey is our technology capability: it is our systems and technology that has supported the whole NHS through the pandemic. We are at the start of an ambitious and significant architectural refresh of our systems, leveraging industry leading technology to replace our ERP, eCommerce and supporting systems with cloud based systems, whilst we continue to support the technology that will eventually be replaced.

Reporting to the Senior Business Intelligence Developer, you will play a key role in the continued development and support of Business Intelligence solutions within NHS Supply Chain, driving the business towards a culture of data driven decision making and helping users gain valuable insights into the performance of the business.

What does a Cognos Developer do at NHS Supply Chain?

Supports in managing the Business intelligence reporting software and supporting data warehouse.

Develops and delivers Business intelligence solutions in accordance with business reporting requirements.

Documents reporting requirements and report specification documents.

Documents and assists with the creation of solution design documents.

Conducts testing of newly developed solutions and assists users in performing UAT.

Translates business reporting requirements into technical solutions that helps to support decision making through the analysis of measures and metrics used by the business.

Investigates, diagnoses and resolves technical reporting issues to ensure the continued performance of the solutions.

Conveys technical solutions to non-technical colleagues.
What skills, qualifications and qualities do I need to be successful?

, including Framework Manager and Cognos Transformer.

Demonstratable Report studio development experience using both relational and multi-dimensional data.

Experience with the development of metadata modelling using Cognos Framework Manager/Cognos Data Modules.

Demonstratable experience of SQL (ORACLE/SQL server).

Experience of Cognos Administration and Security.

Experience of BI/Data Warehouse concepts and standards.
