For over 50 years, the Scottish Wildlife Trust has worked with its members, partners and supporters in pursuit of its vision of healthy, resilient ecosystems across Scotland’s land and seas. The Trust successfully champions the cause of wildlife through policy and campaigning work, demonstrates best practice through practical conservation and innovative partnerships, and inspires people to take positive action through its education and engagement activities. It also manages a network of around 120 wildlife reserves across Scotland and is a member of the UK-wide Wildlife Trusts movement.

The purpose of the Living Seas Engagement Officer role is to foster engagement in the marine environment, increase public awareness of marine conservation, convey key Living Seas policy messages to a diverse range of communities, and support marine policy development.

The key success areas are raising public awareness and engagement in the Trust’s marine conservation work, identifying and creating new partnerships with community and coastal groups, further development of the Trust’s snorkel trail network, increasing connectivity between the Trust’s land-based and marine projects, and improved marine policy development.

Holding a degree in the marine/environmental field, you’ll have a strong personal commitment to marine nature conservation and a good knowledge of Scotland, its marine environment and the current conservation policy issues. Having experience of managing a diverse portfolio of projects and of developing outreach materials, you’ll have experience of working in a public facing role and the ability to work with a highly diverse range of people throughout the project area.
