Job Purpose:
Support the Continuous Improvement Manager in the identification and sharing of best practice towards driving out waste; training and facilitation of improvement activity, and embedding the Princes Operating System. In order to create a culture of Continuous Improvement throughout the Bradford Soft Drinks site. Supporting the site vision, to be the home of operational excellence and the customer's first choice soft drinks manufacturer.
Key responsibilities:
Gain a detailed understanding of the Princes Operating System (POS) and maturity matrix, and support in the audit and regular reporting of adherence to key elements.
Facilitate, train and coach the adoption of lean manufacturing work practices including SIC meetings, 5S, AM, practical problem solving, root cause analysis, kaizen and kata process improvement to drive a continuous improvement culture.
Facilitate the creation and maintenance of new Standard Operating Procedures and development of existing processes for key equipment, new technology, and procedures, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
Monitors existing and new processes for improvement opportunities in safety, people, quality, delivery and cost (SPQDC) using lean problem solving methodology. Production of reports, recording and presenting updates, and outcomes of improvement initiatives and related activities.
Train and support manufacturing teams to also develop Standard Work. Support the MTLs in the adoption and maintenance of standard day and process confirmation system.
Support the Shift operations teams and training coordinator to develop a skill matrix and identify skills gaps. Support training delivery where appropriate.
Support Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activity at site including training and coaching operators and engineers, updating AM documentation and communication boards. Support the development of AM calendars and AM audit plans
Champion 5S activity at site, support 5S training sessions for all employees, and assist with 5S audits ensuring planned activity is carried out.
Coach and develop operators to support performance improvement training and facilitating the use of short interval control (SIC) and V-curve, and Princes Perfect Flow (PPF) and improvements to performance boards.
Facilitate Practical Problem solving (root cause analysis), as well as Kaizen sessions; and support manufacturing teams to adopt and share best practice through success sheets, and horizontal replication.
In conjunction with the site management team develop appropriate documentation and communication to integrate continuous improvement initiatives across all aspects of manufacturing including improvements in visual management.
Champion, train, and facilitate new ways of working within safe working practices and ensure employees understand and adhere to them.
Contribute to the health & safety of self and others by applying health and safety principles to the required standards whilst undertaking designated tasks
Skills/Experience
* Experience of change management within a busy FMCG environment preferred but not essential
* In depth understanding and practical experience of continuous improvement work practices including Autonomous Maintenance, 5S and short interval control
* Experience of planning and implementing lean and continuous improvement initiatives, which have delivered real and sustainable results, within a demanding manufacturing sector
* Effective verbal and written communication and influencing skills including training, facilitating and presenting
* Good at establishing relationships with internal and external customers, as well as subject matter experts
* Ability to set-up, facilitate and lead improvement sessions with a range of stakeholders (including experience of process/value stream mapping)
* Strong leadership, team building and development skills
* A passion for striving for high performance through teamwork and customer focus and the ability to mentor and coach teams to improve performance with an engaging, hands-on style
* Good time management including the ability to organise, prioritise and plan the use of own time and other people effectively
* Strong numerical, analytical and project management skills including excellent skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
