A large healthcare organisation is looking to recruit for the above post on an interim basis, accommodation will be provided and the role is Band 8a level equivalent.

Main Responsibilities:

Clinical management of the patient during the procedure including pre procedure assessment/ the procedure and recovery;
Independently undertake diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy on sedated and non-sedated patients;
Work autonomously with minimal supervision from Consultant Gastroenterologists to undertake therapeutic interventions in accordance with Departmental policies;
Be an expert practitioner, providing specialist nursing advice and support in all aspects related to the Non-Medical Endoscopist;
Maintain awareness and knowledge of national developments related to Non-Medical Endoscopists;
Ability to administer conscious sedation and analgesia and be responsible for the development and amendment of departmental policies related to conscious sedation in accordance with British Gastroenterology;
Be responsible for maintaining and validating colonoscopy surveillance list escalating any backlog issues;
Undertake nurse led Gastroenterology related face to face and non face to face Patient Consultations;
Utilisation of highly developed specialist knowledge, critical thinking and expert decision making skills in order to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for this cohort of patients;
Responsibility for interpreting the outcome of investigations undertaken on patients, arranging any further necessary diagnostic procedures or staging investigations;
A successful candidate will have:

Registered Nurse, with current registration to the NMC;
Hold full JAG certification in OGD, FS and colonoscopy or D05 course;
Ability to spend 80% of time providing direct clinical care and advice for gastro-intestinal patients at the diagnostic stage of their care;
In-depth knowledge of issues and developments in specialty-specific area of practice.
