My client are an established and highly respected engineering supplier to the automotive, powertrain, composites, aerospace, medical, energy, FMCG and OEM sectors and are the UK's leading manufacturer of industrial automation systems , assembly tooling, automated assembly and special purpose machinery

We are now recruiting for a Buyer / Project Buyer to join the existing Procurement Team. The role will be based in the North East office and supported from Head Office in Coventry.

Working in a fast paced environment you will be able to prioritise workload across multiple projects and be able to communicate with stakeholders across all areas of the business.

Daily Duties to include

• Generate and Issue RFQ data to suppliers, via dedicated RFQ, email, verbal requirements

• Analyse RFQ data

• Ensure Parts and Materials are produced at Best Price and delivery aligned to Project Plan

• Work with the Project and Programme Management team taking on full ownership of attaining all bought outs to meet deliverables

• Negotiate Best Terms and Conditions to include Payment terms preventing negative effect on Cash Flow

• Produce regular up to date reports to ensure timely delivery schedules are met and attend relevant review meetings as required

• Pro-actively liaise with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries, prevent issues occurring in advance.

• Keep company MRP (Progress system) fully up to date daily on project the buyer is responsible for

• Remain sole of point of contact for project purchasing including all delegated tasks

• Continually identify improvements to existing purchasing methods to drive down external spend

• Work with and support the Purchasing Department and cover absence where required

• Visit suppliers within the UK and possible overseas if required

• Work with suppliers both commercial and sub-contract, continually monitoring performance levels

• Continually assess existing suppliers on their terms and conditions to improve where possible (ie. Extend payment terms, zero P & P costs)

• Liaise with Accounts payable to resolve any invoice issues and implement preventative action

• Work within the parameters of the Quality Accrediting Body and raise all Non-Conformities

Skills and Experience

* Previous experience within purchasing is essential

* Strong negotiation and communication skills

* Ability to work under pressure, whilst ensuring deadlines are met

* IT systems knowledge and experience (MS Word and Excel)

* Comfortable in a fast-paced commercial environment

* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings advantageous

Initial period of training will be required at our head office in Coventry.

Ongoing training will be given to the successful candidate and we will support personal development though CIPS if desired by successful candidate
