Buyer
You'll procure products, materials and services from the company's approved vendors in accordance with department procedures and protocols and as instructed by the Purchasing Manager.
You will also maintain and develop the Company's supply chain. To assist the Purchasing Manager in obtaining the most competitive prices and availability of goods and services on behalf of the Company.
Buyer Responsibilities:
Create high quality RFQ's and perform bid analysis resulting in the placement of orders with the most competitive compliant vendor.
File completed procurement activities electronically on the company's filling structure.
Support the Purchasing Manager on general procurement activities.
Ensure that communication within the department and other areas of the business is maintained at a high standard.
Work with and support other team members when work demands are high.
Support in the use and development of department procedures and generic documentation.
Occasional business travel.
Carry out bid assessments and review of annual tender quotations.
Source a variety of products and services from both new and existing suppliers.
Upkeep of the supplier data base and develop the existing supply chain.
Negotiate prices with suppliers.
Assist the works management teams in developing enquiry packages for cap ex projects.
Validation of invoices.
Handling of annual maintenance contracts and services.
General office duties.
Buyer Requirements:
Experience of ERP / P to P purchasing systems would be beneficial.
Ideally from a purchasing background in the construction industry.
Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including excel.
Good general commercial acumen.
Drive to succeed.
5 GCSEs A - B, 2 A Levels.
CIPS preferred but not essential.
Excellent communication skills with diplomatic approach.
Ability to liaise with all levels of personnel within the business.
Able to provide strong leadership.
Good negotiation skills.
Ability to work under pressure.
