Main Purpose of the Job:
To control all aspects of incoming goods, placement and location of stock, rotation of stock,
short dates management and goods that needs to be returned to supplier
To work efficiently within budgets and to achieve set targets. To recommend and
Implement agreed changes in order to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Applicants must have in date counterbalance & reach licenses
Hours - 07:00 to 15:30
Task & Responsibilities:
-To recruit, train motivate and organise all staff under his/her responsibilities to ensure objectives are achieved and maintained whilst retaining good industrial relations
-To ensure all Company policies and disciplines as specified in the Company Staff Handbook are adhered to
-To assist senior colleagues in constantly reviewing the operating methods, layouts and procedures to improve performance and reduce costs
-To provide any documentation required for the monitoring of the departments under his/her direct responsibilities on time and in correct detail
-To plan, and control all necessary overtime work in agreement with the General Manager/ Warehouse/Distribution Manager to ensure goods are checked and located within the agreed time period whilst keeping within agreed budget costs
-Co-ordinate staff and workload to meet hour-to-hour priorities at optimum costs
-Ensure maximum efficiency is given to customer service whilst maintaining optimum costs
-Ensures all the Goods Inwards team are fully aware of Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to them
-Monitor speed and accuracy of all Goods Receiving Checkers and works with individuals to improve performance
-Maintain staff discipline and be the first contact in the Company's Grievance and Disciplinary procedures
-Ensure all new staff are made aware of all health and safety aspects expected by the Company at induction
-Ensure all operating practices are healthy, safe, legal, secure and efficient
-Ensure all warehouse equipment meets legal, health, safety and fire requirements and is correctly maintained
-Ensure all safety practices relating particularly to the Counter Balance/Reach Trucks are strictly adhered to and that staff fully understand at no time should the ignition key be left in the machine which may result in use by an unauthorised driver
-Communicate with suppliers and carriers on goods received short, over or damaged
-Liaise with Buying Department with regard to any incorrect deliveries
-Decide department priorities particularly concerning stock urgently needed in warehouse
-Liaise with outside maintenance contracts
-Ensure all goods inwards procedures are strictly adhered to, particularly accuracy of checking goods
-Ensure an updated and accurate index is maintained on all shelf locations together with adequate collation of stock to encourage more proficient assembly
-Ensure stock to be uplifted is collected in a reasonable period of time by supplier/carrier and that all relevant paperwork is passed on to accounts department
-Maintain security of Company stock and assets
-Ensure overstock shelves are maintained to a standard which will allow maximum picking proficiency with minimum stock damage
-Ensure correct rotation of stock within locations to enable stock with shortest life to be sold first
-Work as an integral part of the Management Team to improve the cost effectiveness of the whole depot operation
-Work within a rota with colleagues to ensure adequate supervision is available to cover all open hours of the Company
-Security responsibilities to include opening, closing, necessary overtime and overnight call-outs
-Ensure all procedures relating to the handling of drugs, particularly controlled drugs and temperature controlled drugs are strictly adhered to
-Daily checks carried out on goods received
-G.R.N's printed daily for the following days intake
-Ensure goods receiving book of deliveries is used to maximum effect daily to progress outstanding orders
-Assist in weekly walk test of security equipment
-Ensures falsified suppliers checks are conducted in line with standard operating procedures
-Ensure a clean and safe working environment is maintained at all times
-Show a commitment to good housekeeping
-SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) are followed at all time
-GDP (Good Distribution Practice) is followed at all time
-To adhere to the Company's Policy and Procedures at all times
