Our Client is looking for a Chemist (Analytical) for a contract position, located in Aberdeen.
ROLE
Work in the Aberdeen Analytical Laboratory and contribute to Product Development, Product Support, Quality Control (QC) and Laboratory Administration. You will be expected to conduct all duties and activities professionally to ISO 9001 and 14001 standards and follow company safety policies and procedures, in particular Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Use and maintain/calibrate various analytical instruments within the laboratory.
* Order chemicals, equipment, or other materials.
* Organise and prepare produced water and oil samples for analysis.
* Follow company procedures to carry out the required analysis (including wet chemistry, HPLC, ICP and IC)
* Assist in the review of the Quality System and in the preparation and editing of laboratory procedures.
* Carry out COSSH and Risk Assessment reviews as required.
* Support sample management in the laboratory; ensuring prompt and high standard of service.
* Performance and administration of Project Request using the systems in place.
* Communicate with internal customers (project originators) about clarification and issues with samples.
* Interpretation of data and storage of data.
* Reporting of data to appropriate persons.
* Development and validation of analytical methodology, both reactively and proactively.
* Preparation of synthetic formation or seawater samples, laboratory blends or other samples.
* Help with the logging in/Goods in of samples when required.
* Work closely with the other Analytical and Development Chemists and other staff (UK and abroad) to assess and solve customer problems within either laboratory.
* Continually improve expertise and knowledge in oilfield fluids chemistry and technologies.
* Assist in the training of other lab personnel when required.
* Provide written reports which reflect the professionalism of company.
* Be an integral part of the Technical, Quality and Environment and Sales Team.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education and Experience:
* Preferably BSC, BSC Hons or equivalent in a Science or Engineering subject.
* Experience working in a similar role and of working in a laboratory environment.
* Preferably experience in using analytical techniques
Physical Requirements:
* A mixture of office based and standard laboratory-based work.
* Ability to travel overseas if needed
