As part of the Staffordshire Digital Innovation Partnerships project, Staffordshire University has entered into a partnership with ClickThrough Marketing, one of the UK's leading and award-winning digital performance marketing agencies to help drive research and innovation across their Data Insight and Business Intelligence platforms.

The partnership will include:

Clustering and predictive modelling that functions to optimize and enhance advertising bidding and targeting, Studies of advertising effectiveness through a range of methodologies, which support media planning and inform marketing strategy ,Data integration and management with a focus on helping clients to realize the value of their first-party data in combination with third-party advertising platforms ,Data tools and products development, which increases agency capabilities and efficiency through automation, and by making data solutions widely usable, and which deliver data solutions as lasting assets to clients

Duties and responsibilities

Work with ClickThrough Marketing in the Data & Insights Team to agree and specify analysis questions

Supporting with the project set up, management and reporting

* Perform feasibility analysis on available datasets and sources

* Develop new attributes or data features (feature engineering), for building the data algorithms in the model

* Supporting with database management and data processing

* Design and build modelling tools relevant to the defined objectives

* Test outputs and validate the results

* Produce data visualisations to present the results in PowerBI

* Conduct research and provide advice on approaches

* Work with the Technical Lead and Project Lead to document prerequisites and dependencies for successful project implementation

* Report on project impact

Skills and experience

* IT/Computing graduate

* Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Big Data & Analytics solutions, such as Data Lake, Databricks, Machine Learning and Power BI & Funnel.io

* Knowledge of coding in Python, R-Language or similar

* Demonstrable experience in data science

* Able to work with stakeholders that are not data experts

* Experience of planning projects and resource

* Skills and experience in the following areas:

* Developing machine learning models for clustering and for predicting values, categorisations and affinities

* Attributing measures of success to the data features that drive them, and this may include calculating Shapley valueso

* Preparing data for modellingo

* Visualizing and presenting data and the results of modelling, and this may include in interactive dashboardso

* Using tools such as Causal Impact and methodologies such as Market Mix Modelling in studying advertising and media effectivenesso

* Integrating data systems and automated ETLo

* Cloud computing platforms and using them to train and test predictive models, and host them as web serviceso

* Designing tests to evaluate a range of advertising applications including creative effectiveness, fatigue, and optimal frequency among others

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

* Ability to contribute both independently and as part of a team

* Excellent listening, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

* Excellent verbal, written communication skills and good presentation skills

* Excellent Excel skills - intermediate to advanced level

* Organised and detail-oriented - Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines

Additional information

This position is offered on a full time, fixed term contract for 6 months (24 weeks/900 hours)

Hours and Days: Data Scientist/Analyst (Graduate or Placement)The role is offered through UniTemps and offered on an hourly rate of GBP9.34 plus a holiday enhancement of GBP1.12 per hour.

Expected Start Date: 5th July (subject to agreement)Closing Date for applications 13th June 2021

Dress Code: Smart Casual

The role will be offered on a blended working basis with two days a week minimum required in the office. Final working arrangements to be agreed on offer
