We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Senior Planning Engineer interested in joining a major new player in the UK telecommunications sector, specifically FTTP/FTTH infrastructure installation and upgrade projects.

Job Purpose and Scope:
Working as part of project team, but with dual role as independent assessor of progress, giving confidence in project status to senior management
Ensuring the company procedures and planning standards are being implemented
Contributing to the capturing of output rates to ensure company database remains current and competitive
Liaison with broader planning community, especially technical department
Ensuring compliance with all current BYUK Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements
General Duties
At all times actively lead by example as a representative of the Company ensuring that all working relationships with internal and external customers are consistent and to the highest standards.
To promote the strategic aims and goals of the Company when carrying out your day to day duties and responsibilities.
To maintain regular contact with Senior Management and, where appropriate, other departments, on matters affecting their own areas of responsibility.
Specific Duties
Agree with Project Team the level of planning service and anticipated time allocation to provide that service
Provide mobilisation planning for each new region
To ensure that each week the programme is updated with a revised project dashboard for each live project
Hands-on planning preparing, in conjunction with production team, optimum working programme to meet project objectives
Contributing to the capturing of project risks and proposing mitigating actions
Undertake audits at each region to validate actual progress and associated certification is as the dash board reporting report all finding
Communicating with other disciplines within production teams to ensure they are aware of their roles in meeting the programme
Meeting/ communicating with supply chain specialists to confirm suitable method and programme for scope given project specific constraints
To validate supply chain programmes and ensure that during the construction the actual plant labour on site is recorded within the programmes as a means of assessing contractor / sub-contractor entitlement
Summarise projects status upstream to senior management, highlighting any unresolved major risks and potential overruns by means of project dashboards displaying the key KPI for each project
Manage time and workload to ensure deadlines are met. Highlight any potential work overload to Line Manager as soon as it is apparent.
Ensure the Company Health and Safety safe working practices are observed at all times
Comply with Company Policies and Procedures
To follow the Company's Equalities Policies in relation to other staff, customers and members of the Group, at a level appropriate to the post
In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the job holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by their line manager from time to time, outside the normal sphere of work as may be reasonably requested.
The job holder will be required to undertake such flexible and additional working hours as may be necessary, within reason, to facilitate the efficient fulfilment of the duties required by position
Essential & Desirable Criteria:
Essential:
Ability to manage multiple project programmes running in parallel
Demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of development; design, procurement, construction (structure, architecture, services), commissioning
Excellent communication skills; ability to quickly and clearly articulate key issues and to listen and capture concerns of others
Use of specialist planning software (ideally Primavera P7 , Synchro & Asta)
Knowledge of the key features of common forms of contract entered into in UKin particular NEC
Possibility to commute between Glasgow and London
Desirable:
FTTP infrastructure experience
