Shift Team Leader - Welland Biomass Power Station

We are actively recruiting a Shift Team Leader (STL) to join an operational 10MW Biomass Energy from Waste power station in the Leicestershire area. The STL will report to the Operations Manager and be responsible for effective maintenance planning and execution to ensure a high level of plant availability, efficiency and performance.

Role & Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

Operation of the Gasification plant through the SCADA system
Operation of plant and equipment
To deputise for the Plant Manager
To provide support and training to the Shift Team
Implementing emergency procedures and instructions calmly and effectively in pressurised situations
Supervision and deployment of manpower as appropriate to ensure cost effective, safe and efficient operation of all activities on site within all operational procedures
Technical supervision and assistance where necessary for Company and contract staff engaged in work at the Gasification Facility
Provide effective training and monitoring of shift staff to ensure personnel are competent to undertake their duties
Ensuring compliance with all aspects of the site Environmental Permits
To work within the Company Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) Systems
Liaise with other Company staff as required to provide efficient work scheduling and planning to ensure minimum turnaround times during plant outages
Provide out of hours support by telephone and/or attend site at short notice to cover absences and ensure continuous operation of the Gasification facility
Assist and advise with plant improvements and modifications

Skills & Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with the following knowledge / qualifications:

An experienced Engineer / Technician ideally having completed a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship / Training.
HNC/ONC or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
NEBOSH, IOSH or similar Health & Safety qualification
Knowledge of Environmental Compliance and Regulatory requirements
Experience of running a Permit to Work System
Strong knowledge of Safe Systems of Work

The ideal candidate will be have:

Broad experience gained through shift working in a continuous process industry, preferably in a Waste to Energy environment or Engineering
Ability to lead an operations shift team to ensure adherence with procedures and effective utilisation of staff
Ability to work a 12-hour shift rota including bank holidays and weekends
Management or supervisory experience preferred
