Principal Social Worker
A great opportunity for an experienced Principal Social Worker, this is a 9-5 role with flexibility.
Role is office based with the potential for 1 day working from home.
Reporting to centre manager working within an expanding unit.
Description
Key responsibilities
1. To assess the parenting capacity of parents placed with us. Also to give supervision, advice and support to families
2.To prepare reports and maintain accurate and timely records as appropriate 3. To attend court to give oral evidence
4.To deliver and improve parenting sessions within the centre
5.To supervise less experienced staff e.g. family support workers, student social workers and contact workers. In the absents of a service manager to supervise other manager/s as and when required.
6.To review referrals from Local Authorities, solicitors and other parties. To complete viability assessments as and when needed. Arranging and attending meetings to market our services with local authorities and social work teams.
7.Attending pre-placement planning meetings, LAC, disruption and internal planning meetings and statutory reviews on families who are or may be place and at times out of hours. To chair these meeting as and when required.
8.To act professional and ethical at all times.
9.To hold regular reviews and supervisions with members of the staff team in line with National Minimum Standards
10.Manage a caseload of families placed at the centre and completing the relevant reports within timescales.
11.Provide day to day support for parents and their children. Undertake any other duties or responsibilities as required by the manager to assist the functioning of the centre or care towards the families. This includes domestic tasks such keeping the centre clean and safe at all times.
12.Effective data management of all information regarding families and referrals in accordance with Data Protection principles
13.To be familiar with legislation governing residential family Services such as National Minimum Standards and regulations and The Children Act.
14.To maintain confidentiality at all times in accordance with the Data Protection Act
15.To review existing systems and working patterns to continually improve the running of the service
16.Liaise with senior managers over general enquiries
17.Able to print out reports/statistical data, as required, with the ability to work to agreed timescales and deadlines
18.Able to manage time effectively, prioritise workload, plan ahead and achieve deadlines 19.Attend training courses as allocated by your line manager
20.Effective communication with colleagues, external representatives and other professionals (Social Workers, Guardian, solicitors, parents, Police, Education, and Health)
21.To support the Directors in preparation for Ofsted Inspections and Commissioners requirements
22.To perform such other tasks, commensurate with the duties outlined above, as deemed appropriate
