Our Local Authority client has a 3 Month CONTRACT vacancy (with a possibility of an extension) for a TEAM LEADER, details as follows

Job Purpose
To provide effective management and leadership to staff, while delivering creative Day Care Services to service users living with a learning disability, physical disability, autism and challenging behaviour in response to their assessed needs and agreed care plans. The objective is to enable service users to live with a maximum of choice and independence, participating in a wide range of community based activities, designed to meet their individual need. The post holder will be required to work as part of management team within Direct Services and to work on expansion of the accreditation across services with other team leaders.

Responsibilities

To ensure that there is adequate staff and supervisory cover to provide an effective, safe, caring and responsive service to service users, their families and representatives.
To ensure that the care service within the community meet quality standards, legislative requirements and best practice criteria. To ensure that the service is provided within the resources available.
To initiate and develop a range of educational, vocational and recreational activities for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, challenging behaviour and autism.
To ensure personalisation and self-directed support to all service users. In the main this will happened in the community however, building based support for service users will also be required.
The Team Leader must be able to quickly build up an excellent knowledge of local community groups, services, resources and agencies to ensure service users are appropriately supported and/or signposted to access services in the community.
Make a positive contribution to the delivery of the service, this will include working flexibly and positively to achieve the objectives of the organisation.
Manage and lead a staff team to achieve high performance and effective operational delivery, including developing and improving staff capability.
To be accountable to the Team Manager (Community Opportunities) for achieving agreed service outcomes, maintaining best practice, whilst ensuring effective and meaningful mechanisms are in place that monitors the quality of service provision and that these are regularly evaluated.
Essential Requirements

NVQ Level 5, Health and Social Care Equivalent or above.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of managing the needs of vulnerable people, including those with mental health needs and learning and physical disabilities, autism and older people and of ways in which these can be met that are culturally appropriate and empowering.
Knowledge of the policies and procedures related to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults.
Knowledge and understanding of The Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, Health and Safety legislation, in particular Moving and Handling, and Preparation of Food regulations.
Experience of working with Adults with challenging behaviour.
Experience in managing, supervising or leading staff /staff groups.
Experience in supervising financial and Operations in a day care/community setting.
Proven experience of staff supervision and targeted setting for individual staff members.
Experience of creating and managing rotas taking individual circumstances into account.
