*There is limited public transport to get to our location in Melton, which is approximately 10 miles from Hull City Centre. You will need to consider this before proceeding with an application.*

Due to business growth, we are now looking to appoint a Transport Office Apprentice to strengthen our team.

As the Transport Office Apprentice you will be reporting into the Transport Manager and will be responsible for the following:

To assist in the efficient and effective planning of all company vehicles whilst meeting customer expectations and services
Ensure all drivers briefs and de-briefings are completed daily
To schedule vehicle movements in order to meet delivery times
Assisting the Transport Managers to ensure vehicle defects are reported and rectified with an audit trail.
Changing traffic planning schedules to accommodate additional business or revising in order to maximise service performance
Data entry and updating information
Answering of telephone queries from shops and other members of staff
Any other duties

Essential Skills, Experience and/or Qualifications:-

Interested in working in a transport environment
Determination and willingness to learn all aspects of the Transport operation from loading of vehicles / stock through to actual delivery of goods to stores
Be driven to develop additional skills within the transport operation with a view to setting long term personal goals which may include HGV and CPC training / Qualifications.
Good IT literacy (good working knowledge of Excel, Outlook and Word)
Good organisation skills, able to prioritise and work effectively to deadlines within a sometimes pressurised environment
Good oral communication skills. Ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels of seniority, liaise effectively with other internal departments and external contacts
Good interpersonal skills, able to empathise, maintain professionalism, display patience and politeness within a sometimes pressurised environment
A flexible and 'can do' working style
Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
