Deputy General Manager
Reporting to Divisional Managing Director
GBP53,168 per annum

Capita are a recruitment supplier partnering with a leading Healthcare authority that are currently expanding and looking to bring a Deputy General manager into their organisation. The Deputy General Manager will be responsible for providing operational and strategic business planning and leadership across their Clinical Business Unit to ensure the provision of high-quality services and to achieve their performance objectives. You will lead a more contained Clinical Business Unit with more oversight from the Divisional Managing Director.
Leadership
?? To provide strong visible leadership across the clinical business Unit
?? In conjunction with the Divisional Managing Director to prepare the strategic direction and Integrated Business Plan for the Clinical Business Unit
?? To develop and introduce new and innovative business management systems to maximise the organisational efficiency and effectiveness of the service area, sharing good practice
?? Provide professional management leadership for the Clinical Business Unit including the Clinical leads, matrons and Clinical and Operational service managers
?? Ensure that all staff in the specific service areas are clear about what is expected of them (via the appraisal and Performance Management processes) and are working together in successful teams to deliver high quality patient services
?? Lead on the implementation of new Trust-wide policies within the service area and to co-ordinate the development of policy and service development that may impact beyond the service
Service Delivery
?? Responsible for the preparation of strategic service development plans for the service for approval by the Senior Team with support as required from the Divisional Managing Director or General Managers
?? To plan and implement a programme of continuous and evidence-based improvement in all aspects of the service area to ensure services are high quality, efficient, effective and patient-focused
?? Ensuring that robust performance management development systems are developed for the Clinical Business Unit, that can inform Divisional Clinical Cabinet and subsequently upwards to appropriate internal and external governance, delivery and transformational oversight groups
?? To take a key role in ensuring that all Managers are aware of the specific delivery standards/targets they are responsible for delivering and provide support to each manager to ensure delivery of them.
?? To ensure a culture of continuous challenge exists in the service area, ensuring that progressive solutions, which take into account models of best practice, are incorporated into service plans
?? Oversee Clinical Business Unit budget ensuring all financial Standing Financial Instructions are adhered to and budget control targets are met.
?? To review and monitor financial performance and to hold delegated budget holders to account ensuring services remain within their delegated expenditure limit
?? To put in place appropriate budget management systems for specific service areas so that accountable managers have the necessary and timely information and, via this process, to ensure the directorate remains within the allocated budget.
?? To ensure specific service areas deliver a financial performance in line with the agreed financial plan, including FEPs and continuously exploring and implementing all opportunities for cost improvement.
?? The post holder will be responsible for service redesign and service improvement within the service area that will lead to delivery of improved clinical outcomes for patients, reduced waiting times and more efficient use of resources within the service area and will ensure appropriate support to help clinicians of all relevant professions to deliver those service projects
Standards and Requirements for Healthcare Organisations
?? Work closely with clinical leads, Matrons and managers to ensure that specific service areas in the Clinical Business Unit are providing the best quality of patient care in line with national healthcare standards
?? To implement systems and processes to be able to provide assurance to the Divisional Team that specific service areas in the directorate meet or exceed the relevant Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards for registration and continues to comply with licensing requirements and local healthcare targets
?? To develop and maintain a systematic approach to handling patient complaints to ensure that these are resolved in accordance with Trust and national guidelines
