JUNIOR SITE RELIABILTY ENGINEER / BICESTER / GBP21,000-GBP26,000 + BENEFITS
Due to ever growing demand in the industry for our HPC managed hardware and cloud products, we're expanding and looking for a highly motivated Junior Site Reliability Engineer to join our internal systems operations team and help play their part in the extension of our industry-renowned reputation for excellent support and first-class products.
Alces Flight Ltd supplies software and managed services to the HPC / supercomputer industry across Europe. We have a wide customer base in multiple market sectors including academic/research institutions, life sciences, banking, manufacturing, and Formula One.
We're looking for a Junior Site Reliability Engineer with a strong drive to kickstart a career in Linux / HPC who might be a recent graduate with a demonstrable background in working with people and technology.

Key Responsibilities of the Junior Site Reliability Engineer:
Working on our early warning monitoring and alerting platform, implementing new checks as well as being involved in problem resolution.
Implementing and maintaining continuous integration configuration and customisation scripts and processes.
Day to day execution and stepped analysis and improvement of existing processes to manage and maintain tightly coupled systems containing hundreds of individual computers and disks.
Post-mortem analysis of issues, adding to team's libraries of system checks and response procedures.
Exposure to multiple new software and hardware technologies on a day-to-day basis.
Technologies We Use Daily:
Linux.
Hardware from multiple vendors, high performance networking and interconnects, multi-petabyte parallel filesystems, exascale computing.
AWS / Azure / OpenStack, management, and orchestration.
Scripting Languages: Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby.
Monitoring platforms: Zabbix, Nagios, Ganglia.
Backup technologies: Amanda, Dirvish, Bacula.
Automation tooling: Ansible, Saltstack, Terraform etc.
Your Skills:
You will embrace change, and have a can do, get up and go attitude and approach to problems.
Approachable, customer friendly, and can manage your own time, take responsibility for group and independent tasks alike.
You will like solving problems and can see that they can be solved in numerous ways.
Ideally You Will:
Be degree educated.
Have a passion for technology and the scientific computing industry.
