Our client has been established for more than 35 years and are recognised market leaders in the design and development, manufacture and distribution of an impressive portfolio of electrical cabling and connection solutions for supply throughout the world, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth for 2021 and beyond, are now looking to recruit an experienced, self-motivated and proactive Technical Sales Engineer (Electrical) to complement their professional and successful team.

Reporting to the Industry and Distribution Sales Manager, the role covers the East of England, encompassing the East Midlands, East Anglia and Lincolnshire areas, and will be responsible for supporting both national and independent electrical distributors in sales to OEM, Panel Build and Electrical Contractor sectors, so you will ideally be based in the Leicester, Nottingham, Warwickshire or Peterborough area.

As an experienced Technical Sales Engineer (electrical) with a proven background of selling in the electrical industry - ideally gained within a manufacturing or electrical distribution and wholesale environment - you will be tasked with both achieving and exceeding company sales targets through a combination of proactive new business development activities as well as maximising existing relationships, and you will be responsible for the development of a strong pipeline of new enquiries and orders utilising cold call, networking and social media resources to their fullest potential.

You will conduct thorough market research to identify potential sales opportunities and set up meetings with new and existing clients to understand their requirements and identify commercially beneficial solutions, before preparing and delivering presentations or product demonstrations on the relevant products and services associated with their needs and finally negotiating and closing deals whilst handling any objections or questions as they may arise.

Other duties will include (but not be limited to) ensuring that all areas of your sales territory are visited frequently, attending trade fairs, exhibitions and conferences in order to actively promote business capabilities and solutions, and liaising closely with independent and national electrical distributors and their customers in order to maximise sales within your area.

To be considered for this varied and challenging Technical Sales Engineer (Electrical) role, you will essentially demonstrate at least 5 years previous experience of successful field sales within the electrical sector, along with solid commercial awareness, exceptional communication and influencing skills at all levels and strong analytical and IT skills (with experience in the use of QlikView proving distinctly advantageous). You will excel in effective time management and be comfortable in working both autonomously and as part of a team. A full UK driving licence is essential for the positions.
