Assistant Transport Manager, Aztec West, Bristol/South Glos
Resolve Recruitment are working with a major national supplier of kitchens and bathrooms across the UK. Due to expansion, our client seeks an experienced Assistant Transport Manager to work from their Aztec West site in South Glos/Bristol.
The role:
* Running the day to day operation, line manager of 24 drivers, a Transport Supervisor and a Transport Admin.
* Working days are Tuesday-Saturday usual working hours will be 9.00am till 6.00pm with an hour lunch, although flexibility required to cover am-pm shifts when the Supervisor or Admin is off.
* Ensure that all compliance undertakings are met - drivers meet the drivers hours regulations, drivers are not speeding, vehicles are maintained and inspected every 6 weeks, vehicles are not overloaded etc
* Organise and plan use of staff and the assist with costs
* Liaise with all relevant vehicle repair agents regarding all legal requirements e.g. MOT, tachograph calibration, LOLER test etc
* Ensure drivers are completing their daily walk around checks
* Liaise with relevant departments to identify and resolve delivery issues
* Assist with managing staff hours and overtime
* Ensure drivers are using PDA's correctly
* To drive continuous improvement in our staff
* To ensure sufficient resource available for the daily delivery requirements
* Work closely with the warehouse
* Review missing mileage report
* Sign off driver Infringement reports
* Monitor Trutac software system which we use for drivers
* Willing to go out with drivers from time to time to monitor and guide if required
Skills and experience:
Essentials
* Two years' experience working in the Transport industry
* Experience managing Health & Safety is essential
* Must have excellent organisation skills
* Computer literate
* Able to work to strict and tight deadlines
* Must be able to manage a team
* UK driving licence is a must
Advantageous
* Forklift licence advantageous but not essential
* CPC Qualification preferred - if you do not have, then happy to take the CPC transport qualification
* Any previous Class 2 driving experience

* GBP28,500 p/a starting salary
