Purchasing Assistant
Ware, Hertfordshire
 
The Company
 
Our client creates original fragrances and flavours to enhance a wide variety of products from luxury perfumes to everyday consumer brands.
 
They are currently looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join their team at their Headquarters in Hertfordshire.

This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and customer orientated purchasing professional with a background in chemical procurement to grow their career with an international fragrance house and flavour manufacturer.
 
You will have the chance to develop your skills, experience and knowledge in a supportive work environment, playing an important role in the smooth running of the organisation’s purchasing department.   
 
The Role
 
As a Purchasing Assistant, you will be responsible for a range of procurement activities to ensure our client has the right amount of raw materials and consumables to meet their customers’ needs.
 
Supporting the Purchasing Manager and the department as a whole, you will work with internal customers to ensure our client can deliver, following up purchase orders and acting quickly to deliver purchase transactions.
 
Working across the entire purchasing process, you will enter purchase orders, update stock systems and provide advice and support to operational teams. Additionally, you will maintain and update all systems, play a part in the annual stock take, field calls from suppliers and support the sourcing of new materials and packaging.
 
About You
 
To join our client as a Purchasing Assistant, you will need:
 
- Previous experience working in purchasing chemicals
- Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
- Good computer skills
- Ability to associate with other cultures and languages
- Ability to react positively to tight deadlines
- To be customer orientated
- To be educated to GCSE standard with grade 4 at C or above
 
A working knowledge of purchasing in a fast-moving manufacturing environment would be an advantage, as would a CIPS qualification and knowledge of importation.
 
A second language such as Spanish, Chinese, French or Polish, in addition to English, would also be beneficial to your application but is not essential.
 
Other organisations may call this role Procurement Assistant, Procurement Co-ordinator, Junior Buyer, Buying Assistant, or Assistant Buyer. 
 
This is a full-time role working the following hours:
 
Monday to Wednesday: 9am to 5pm with a 1-hour lunch break
Thursday: 9am to 5pm with ½ hour lunch break
Friday: 9am to 4pm with ½ hour lunch break
