Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Planner to join our expanding team. This role will principally be focused on efficiency and maximization of container vessels.
The key elements of the role are to:
- Execute the Vessel deployment and changes
- Optimise container vessels utilisation while maintaining vessel safety
- Optimise efficiency in port productivity
- Maintain schedule reliability while ensuring bunker economy
- Eliminate avoidable costs
- Optimise network capacity
- Optimise vessel/port/line Operations & utilisation
We believe the successful Marine Planner should have the following skills:
- Prior experience within the shipping industry with a preferred minimum of 2 years' experience as a Marine Planner
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and competent verbal and written understanding of the English language
- Ability to demonstrate a professional manner at all times
- Ability to remain calm and resilient under pressure
- Ability to work proactively and on their own initiative as well as working as part of a team
- Advanced numeracy, literacy, and IT skills, including the full suite of Microsoft Office applications and Power BI
- Proven ability to plan and prioritise work, meet strict deadlines and be flexible in a fast-paced and demanding environment
- Ability to work flexible hours as required by the business
The key tasks for the Marine Planner are:
- Ensure that the vessels are planned to optimum capacity while taking into consideration the constraints of the Vessels and Ports
- Manage and co-ordinate the booking figures
- Effective communication with all stakeholders
- Ensuring all information provided is accurate, including but not limited to data reporting
- Manage special cargo requirements
- Manage COD / Restow requests and follow up with cost assignment
- Manage any partner's allocations and follow up with final report to VSA department
- Manage vessel performance
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Vessel Captains, Chief Officers, Port Planning Dept, Liners, Port Captains and Agents, ensuring effective communication at all times
- Escalation of key reportable issues
- Constant Cost analysis
- Compliance with all international and IMO regulations
