SyriMed are recruiting for a Microbiology Manager for our growing Micro Laboratory based at our modern facility in Ruislip.

The role will be managing a busy and growing laboratory with 6 heads currently but growing throughout 2021 and divesting into sterile and other business streams.

Role holder duties:

  • Planning workload for the team dependent on the manufacturing schedule of sterile and non-sterile products.
  • Responsibility for Microbiology compliance in accordance with GMP.
  • Providing leadership and management within the laboratories through a structural process of objective setting, performance appraisals and individual development.
  • Leading internal and external QC audits.
  • Managing and completing QMS actions in a timely manner.
  • Leading OOS investigations.
  • Interpret data and review and approve method suitability, Data checking and approval in Microbiology department.
  • Championing and implementing new processes and procedures.
  • Managing and completing QMS actions in a timely manner.
  • Championing and implementing new processes and procedures.
  • Continuously improving the overall department productivity and efficiency in order to meet KPI's.
  • Managing and approving Microbiology team consumables needs.
  • Ensuring robust training programmes within the laboratory, as well as the review of SOPs, investigations, specifications, methods and reports.
  • Managing the testing of raw materials, finished Products, Stability Samples and Investigational Samples using microbiological techniques (PET, TAMC/TYMC).
  • Managing the environmental monitoring for clean room, Bacterial Endotoxins and sterility testing.
  • Performing Gowning qualification, autoclave operation and Bio indicators enumeration and disinfectant study for sterile facility.
  • Responsible for microbiological test implementation of new compounds: method development, validation and documentation.
  • Managing the cleaning validation by using swab/contact technique.
  • To write reports, SOPs and other documentation when required including Monitoring and trending of microbiological data
  • Any other duties as and when required.


  • Minimum Science based degree in Microbiology or biological science
  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical Quality department in clean room/sterile and non-sterile environment.
  • Deep understanding and proven application of cGMP regulations and international guidelines in a sterile/clean room and non-sterile area.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of working to deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks with flexibility to change based on priority
  • Strong working knowledge of the principles and guidelines for GMP as per the Orange Guide, Eudralex Volume 4.
  • Ability to write scientific papers and reports.
  • Min. 5-year experience in similar job and 2years in leadership.
