Enterprise Architect
Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires an Enterprise Architect to be based in their client's office in Woking. You can work remotely until covid abates.
This is a 12+month temporary contract, to start on 11th May 2021.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising on projects/programmes/strategy, which impact the business and the overall IT architecture
- Developing future state architectures and roadmaps with a regional scope and a 2-3 year vision
- Sustaining architectural governance within their business domain
- Working across regions and cultures to communicate, share and align approaches
- Leading architecture engagements through strong customer relationships
- Contributing to the development and governance of the overall IT architecture
- The role involves using a wide range of IT/Business experience and technical ability to influence strategy, roadmaps, solutions and designs
- The position is for a respected senior architect resource who upholds architecture practices, principles and technical standards and promotes best practice approaches
- They will be called upon to resolve key design, development and production issues through effective diagnosis, facilitation and mediation
- In support of corporate architecture governance and planning the individual will also use their experience to oversee all global architecture matters relating to a specific shared technology eg SAP, MDM, Document management, Database technology, Application and Data Security, Development tools and techniques, application integrations
- Ensure the current landscape for their business domain is well documented and catalogued for use in architecture, project and support activitiescatalogues include business capabilities, information objects, systems and technologies
- Provide architectural and technical guidance throughout the business change life cycle
- Work with IS relationship managers, system owners and business stakeholders toIdentify and recommend architecturally significant business opportunities and strategic needs
- Determine architectural strategies and plans for business, information, system and technology layers
- Develop future state and transitional state architectures and roadmaps
- Recommend how technology and market trends can be used to best meet business needs
- Help shape projects to deliver against business opportunities and needs
- Influence projects towards a simpler, more flexible, globally consistent architecture
- Monitor the portfolio of existing solutions for effective life cycle management
- Ensure that proposals and designs meet business objectives are fit for purpose, cost effective and meet Astellas standards and best practices and that designs can accommodate future change cases
- Ensure that future-state architectures and roadmaps are complete, consistent and feasible
- Maintaining architecture governance for their business domain to provide architectural monitoring, guidance, and enforcement in programmes and projects
- Support overall architecture planning and governance, contributing to reviews, planning, budgeting and development of architectural policies, standards and procedures as required
Key Requirements/Skills
- Minimum BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
- TOGAF certified
- Ability to shape programmes, projects and solutions from uncertain requirements
- Ability to lead the planning and development of strategic architecture deliverables
- Solution planning and design skills from conceptual level to detailed level
- Ability to abstract real world scenarios into easy to understand architecture models
- Ability to produce conceptual designs for multi technology solutions
- A good working knowledge and practice of Enterprise architecture disciplines across business, system and information layers.
- Ability to evaluate technologies and assess their potential value to the business
- Ability to exploit Information Management disciplines including: Data governance, MDM, Information life cycle management, Document and records management
- Solid understanding of application and data platforms and how they are used effectively in solution designs, such as:
- Integration tools, Web and Application Servers, Databases, Data marts and warehouses
- Good understanding of core infrastructure services and how they are used effectively in solution designs.
- Good understanding of information security disciplines, technologies and methods of threat and risk reduction.
- Ability to articulate both technical and business ideas clearly and simply
- Ability to quickly build up sufficient knowledge to make effective recommendations and ability to prioritise effectively
- Analysis skills and lateral thinking and to review IT documentation and provide constructive feedback on key issues
- Ability to plan and management stakeholder engagement
- Ability to facilitate discussions to drive future planning and to help resolve project issues and conflicts
- Experience in the applied use of IT in business situations including roles as an Enterprise Architect
- Significant experience in advising, influencing and developing solution architectures in organisations with complex heterogeneous IS environments
- Experience of developing target architectures and roadmaps which have been shown to set and influence IT and business direction
- Experience of working in the Pharmaceutical industry or a related industry that has strong regulatory compliance requirements
- Experience of identifying and selecting IT solutions to business problems including Commercial of the Shelf (COTS), SaaS and ERP applications
- Experience of solution definition, application architecture and systems integration
- Experience in producing documentation and presentations for both business and technical audiences
- Experience of systems analysis, design and development with experience in a solution architect role an advantage
- Experience of managing complex or large IT projects either directly or indirectly through close involvement in the overall project leadership
- Experience of Architecture governance including design authorities, setting and communicating IT standards, maintaining shared knowledge
- Experience of working in an international environment
- Supplier management experience including software vendors, cloud vendors and outsourced service providers
- Familiarity with EA tools and repositories, and their usage for strategic level/EA level modelling and impact analysis
- Experience in Computer system validation as practised in the pharmaceutical industry
- Familiarity with Solution Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) frameworks and processes
- Practical experience of project management methodologies and project management techniques
- Knowledge of IT Infrastructure library (ITIL) principles and practices. Some service delivery experience an advantage
