Five Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant who is kind and understanding to work with a Key Stage 6 girl on a 1:1 basis.
The student has recently moved to the country, has limited education and so can only speak Arabic so while the ability to speak Levantine or Eastern Arabic is essential.
Due to settling in at a new school, this role is currently 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. but may change once the child is more comfortable in the school.
The school is located in Central Bristol. The school also has limited parking available for those with cars.
Responsibilities Include:
* Assisting the child to settle in and work in her new school environment
* Using behaviour management techniques to both keep the child calm and maintain a safe working environment for her
* Assisting the teacher with differentiation, currently, she is working at KS2 early stage
* Ensuring the child stays focused on the tasks that she is given by teachers
* Keeping the child up to date with her routine in plenty of notice and helping her wind down at the end of the day
Essential Criteria
* Fluent in Levantine or Eastern Arabic
* A calm personality and considerable amounts of patience
* Experience using de-escalation techniques such as Team Teach or MAPA would be ideal
* At least 6 months of working with children with SEND in an educational or similar setting
* A proactive approach to assisting the child with her work, supporting her development
* A flexible approach to supporting this child, as she is not only settling into a new school but developing skills in a second language
* Able to cope with challenging behaviour
* Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)
* Two recent child based references and relevant DBS/ Police checks
