Laboratory Technician

Elevation Recruitment Group are partnered with a manufacturing business in Rotherham who are looking for an Laboratory Technician to join their operation.

Working as part of a small team and reporting into the Quality Manager, this role will effectively test and monitor incoming raw materials and finished product whilst analysing laboratory data and results to effectively maintain performance.

Duties & responsibilities include:

- Routine sample retrieval, testing and data collection of raw materials following SOP's
- Testing of finished goods to ensure customer specification is achieved
- Testing and analysis of trials - understand standard running conditions and the effects this has on test results and data.
- Test and evaluate competitor samples in order to recommend a equivalent performance-based alternative
- Technical support for processes - monitoring standard running conditions, so test result consistency is achieved
- Drive the development of the performance packaging model so we can use a proven system to determine board grade selection.
- Maintain internal and external calibration of laboratory equipment
- Issue customer technical specification sheets
- Issue monthly paper supplier performance graphs for across the group.
- Carry out internal audits including: - quality, product safety and glass audits
- Compile and issue internal reject reports and summaries
- Update internal quality and laboratory logs
- Coordinate pest control visits and associated corrective actions
- Assist in meetings in relation to laboratory functions
- Laboratory housekeeping and stock control
- Undergo training as required by the needs of the business

I'm keen to speak to individuals with the following skillset:

- Good general understanding of laboratory functions
- Experience in Microsoft excel and other Microsoft applications
- Good computer skills, ability to compile and analyse relevant reports
- "self starter" with a passion for pursuing a career in engineering
