An exciting opportunity has arisen to join this thriving organisation as a Desktop Engineer. If you have experience supporting a commercial business with it's technologies, and are looking for a varied role in a supportive team, then our Desktop Engineer position could be perfect for you.
The role is to support the business and its technologies, this will include supporting users remotely with a variety of IT issues, onboarding new starters, building and deploying laptops for new joiners. You will also help to support all office based and cloud infrastructure. The Desktop Engineer position sits within the Digital Team, so it would be advantageous if you have experience working closely with a Development team or at least have an understanding of their methodologies and working practices. The successful applicant will enjoy working as part of a team with excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate complex information to a diverse range of audiences.
Responsibilities:
* Answer helpdesk tickets and escalate to the wider team when needed
* Proactive maintenance for company Macs using reporting metrics, such as OS and app versions
* Automate building new machines to minimise IT touchpoints
* Onboard / offboard staff
* Independently research and implement improvements for ongoing IT projects
* Help maintain current systems: G Suite, Editshare, Sage, Munki (managed software centre), Moysle (MDM)
* Keep all IT systems documentation updated
* Remotely support users via remote desktop software
* Asset management
* Package apps for managed software centre
* Support the design and implementation of projects
* Train users on new software implementations
* Collaborate with others in the team on larger projects
Skills and Experience Required:
* Experience automating machine builds and app deployment via MDM software
* 1+ years IT Helpdesk experience (Mac / Linux experience here would be helpful)
* Familiar with some hypervisors, AWS or GCP environments
* Office365 or G Suite experience
* Basic network troubleshooting
* Good documentation skills/best practices
* Personable and customer focused
* Experience prioritising a varied workload and keeping to timescales on projects
* Good written and oral communication skills
Additional, non-essential, Skills and Experience:
* Experience working with Munki (Managed Software Centre) / Jamf
* Experience Working with Moysle or similar MDM solution
* Knowledge of Python, JS, Google scripts or working with APIs
* Some experience with networking and assisting with physically organising equipment racks
* Some experience with Asset Management systems would be beneficial
* Experience working with AutoPKG, for app packaging and updating
* Sage experience
* Ideally you'll have some experience with Editshare - storage protocols and troubleshooting
