Job Description

Shifts: 4 on 4 off Days

The role holder will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

* Effective planning of driver and vehicle resource to achieve delivery/collection times, creating and updating daily run summary

* Liaise with the shunting operation covering pre loading & unloading operation

* Ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments

* Optimisation of resource and adherence of WTD and drivers' hours legislation

* Using the Driver Rota, plan drivers according to shift pattern and available hours, taking into account holidays and sickness

* Equipment control through sign in/sign out procedure

* To ensure legal compliance regarding any defects, services, MOT's etc

* Carry out disciplinary hearings, return to work meetings, substance misuse procedure etc in order to maintain standards and ensure that employees work at an appropriate level

* Ensure any risk assessments at depot are organised and carried out accordingly

* Ensure all accidents/incidents/near miss are logged and reported in line with company procedures

* Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, communicating accurate start times, load information, directions, additional shifts etc

* To increase staff retention and maintain good morale, reporting any driver's issues or concerns to management. In turn, communicate any operational changes that may affect a driver's daily duties

* Ensure adherence to all statutory and legal requirements, adhere to all health & safety/ safe systems of work

Qualifications

Significant knowledge & experience of tachograph/ driving rules and regulations

CPC National desirable but not essential

Previous management/ supervisory experience

Planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy

Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages

Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines

Have knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours

Be professional, approachable and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation

Significant transport experience in FMCG environment
