Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Portering Services, manage and develop all services within portering ensuring continuity throughout the Soft Facilities Management Services within agreed financial parameters, operating procedures and all legislative requirements covering both operational and personnel training requirements to meet and exceed performance targets.

Key Responsibilities:

To be committed to managing and providing direction, guidance and support regarding the provision of portering, and non-patient movement. Ensuring that employees are able to carry out their roles efficiently, effectively and safely.

To create, maintain and enhance effective working relationships with staff working within the control of the position, other staff within the Trust, Client and individuals in the external environment.

To be the acting Site Manager for all ISS services when either the General Manager or Head of Portering is not on site.

Liaise with operative staff under your control by way of discussions and regular team meetings, i.e. Performance Reviews, Job Chats, accident and other investigations.

The effective supervision, training, motivation, discipline, safety, and general welfare of staff under your control

Order, control, monitor and issue relevant uniform, equipment, materials and other goods required by the staff under your control to carry out their duties effectively & safely.

Person Specification:

Set work objectives for self, teams and individuals enabling Service Level Specifications/Agreements to be met.
Identify staff requirements and assess and select suitable employees in accordance with the Trust and Company Recruitment Policy
Ensure all employees receive relevant inductions and training
Comply with relevant managing absence procedure
Comply with relevant disciplinary, grievance and counselling procedures
Assess and monitor staff turnover and manage effectively through the team
Create and Maintain a Healthy, Safe, and Secure EnvironmentQualifications:

Preferably holding Level 3 or the Equivalent in Management.
Minimum Level 3 in Health & Safety preferred.Experiences:

Three years' management experience, preferably in a multi-functional hospital environment.
Extensive experience in managing staff.
Good verbal & written communication skills.
Good levels of numeracy with an ability to understand budgets, allocations & rosters.
Competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Word & Excel.
