Primary responsibilities
The main purpose of the role is to ensure a constant flow of trailers are available for loading / unloading & to keep the operation running in a safe & efficient manner. Working cohesively with the Warehouse and Transport department to ensure the safe movement and organisation of trailers as and when required.
Area of responsibility
At the *site name* you will be accountable for the moving and parking of trailers from *number of* HGV parking bays and *number of* dock door and *number of* floor access bays across a *size of site* sq ft site.
Observing and adhering to all site rules, company policies and all aspects of Health & Safety regulations.
Carrying out daily checks, reporting any defects and damages to the operations team.
Liaising with Transport and Warehouse staff to ensure efficient & smooth loading / unloading of trailers.
Able to work under pressure.
Able to work individually or as part of a team.
Be professional, helpful and approachable to ensure the smooth running of the operation.
Maintaining a high standard of behaviour, appearance and PPE at all times.
Vigilant awareness of pederasties, colleagues and other drivers while working in the yard at all times.
Encouraging a forwarding thinking way of working to improve service and protocols. "
Personal competence
iPad literate
Confident in making decisions and following requests.
Have great time management and organisational skills.
Physically active individual who enjoys being outdoors for long periods of time.
Understand and able to comply with Drivers hours and relevant legislation.
Able to efficiently carry out necessary vehicle checks regularly ensuring vehicle safety and compliance are reported correctly."
Formal competence / Experience
Shunter experience of ideally 2 years "Must have a C&E Licence with DCPC & Digital Tachograph card
No more than 6 points on your license
