Position / Title
Drivers Class 1 days and Class 1 nights
Primary responsibilities
"The role is collections and deliveries of parcels and packets for our client within a defined geographical area. Drivers will provide excellent customer service whilst operating within a safe working environment and ensuring legal compliance, you will be front facing representative to the general public and must act in a polite and professional manner at all times.
Key elements include; collection of deliveries from the deptot, receipt scanning of parcels and delivery directly to end customers as well as collections from customers. It requires use of a vehicle and compliance with delivery procedures including time-scales and processes such as End of Life, Safe Place photo and use of Hand Held Device (HHT) to ensure efficient delivery to our Customers specifically within Central London Low Emission Zone."
Area of responsibility
Efficiently organise your assigned round & ensure all items are scanned for your round & delivered on time
Report any discrepancies to management immediately
Accurate use of the hand held terminal (HHT) in line with documented procedures
Safe Loading and unloading of parcels / vehicle
Complete collections and deliveries as per documented procedures
Maintain vehicle in accordance with the Company Car Policy
Achieve performance in line with business KPI's
Maintain regular contact with personnel throughout your shift and respond to changing priorities, answering queries promptly and accurately.
To ensure that the delivery vehicles are maintained at all times to Company standards in terms of reporting of any defects to the vehicle
Ensuring that the vehicles are driven safely, well presented and all procedures and legal regulations are adhered to e.g. FTA regulations
Ensuring all activities are undertaken in accordance with appropriate security and Health and Safety legislation and policies
Maintaining contact with the depot, ensuring any issues are communicated throughout the day
Where necessary some warehouse duties will be required to meet the needs of the business, along with the manual handling of heavier and large items
Personal competence
Previous driving experience in Congestion Zone
Formal competence / Experience
Experience of multi-drop deliveries (upwards of 20 stops per day)
Previous multi-drop parcel delivery experience
Good attention to detail - every parcel matters!
Good standard of numeracy
Ability to communicate successfully at all levels
Able to demonstrate good customer service - what our customers think of us matters!
Able to work remotely on own a lot of the time
Able to use technology to track parcel deliveries
Good geographical awareness and/or map reading skills
Relevant assessment / check of competences
Valid full UK driving licence ((with not more than 6 points)
