Solutions Architect
Due to sustained growth and the evolution of business requirements of our customer base, the Intelligence Solutions business within Leonardo UK Ltd is seeking to expand our Systems Engineering and Architecture capability.
We are therefore looking to recruit senior and experienced systems engineering professional who is able to perform a lead technical role fulfilling the duties of a Solutions Architect. You should quickly settle into the systems and customer environment (UK MOD) and apply their architecture skills to new systems integration projects and across a range of existing systems.
The role will require excellent team working attributes but also requires the ability to take responsibility and accountability for individual to work independently.
Work will take place on customer sites in Lincoln.
What you will do
Ensuring compatible interfaces with all systems connected to the customer capability are maintained. Assessing changes concerned with functional and interface control of customer related systems and equipment in order to identify and recommend consequent modifications and improvements to the capability.
Providing advice to the Project Manager on technical and programme issues which might affect the future supportability or operational capability of the system or which might present spend-to-save opportunities.
Providing advice to customer Management on Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and Information Management.
Assisting in addressing capability management of customer systems through the provision of advice on system configuration to improve their performance, including capacity planning to forecast the requirement for additional resources.
Liaising with external agencies and/or 3rd party contractors as required to support the IT infrastructure and/or the interfaces with those agencies/companies, both on and off site.
The production of the infrastructure Requirements Specification, Design Specification, High and Low Level Design documentation for hosted systems / applications.
Researching and providing advice on IT architecture changes, including emergent technologies.
Acting as the technical focus point to the customer for both internal activity and integration of external projects.
Design new capabilities in line with the customers ongoing development and improvement programmes.
Provision on advice and assistance to the internal team as well as the customers own support teams.
What we are looking for
Mandatory
The role absolutely requires the candidate to be a sole UK National with current DV clearance.
Experience performing a senior systems engineering and technical/solutions architecture role;
Systems infrastructure engineering and architecture design including network, storage, virtualisation, client/server solutions across Windows and Red Hat operating systems;
Good working knowledge and experience of Microsoft Windows Server and Group Policy;
Good working knowledge and experience of Security Enforcing technologies;
Good working knowledge and experience of secure gateway solutions providing interconnectivity to external 'untrusted' networks;
Detailed requirements analysis and solution design experience;
Hands on working knowledge and experience of the complete systems development life-cycle from design through to operation/maintenance including transition, migration and disposal;
Excellent people skills including team leadership and stakeholder engagement;
Excellent documentation skills including initial development/production and document maintenance.
Highly Desirable
Experience working within secure environments and with higher classified systems;
Experience of MOD working practices and associated standards and policies;
Experience of Cloud based technologies;
Experience/understanding of current IT Security practices and processes
