Position Overview:
Staff Power Group are working with a fantastic company who are looking for an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join their Warehouse in Jarrow on a permanent basis. As part of the management team, you will be responsible for the smooth running of your shift, ensuring this is achieved in the most efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst delivering world class service. You will manage and control shift activities from Goods In through to Despatch with a high degree of accuracy. A key aspect of this role is getting the best from the Warehouse Operatives on your shift, ensuring they are motivated, trained and carrying out their role to a high standard.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Plan and co-ordinate the incoming goods, storage, and despatch of orders in a timely and efficient manner.
* Achieve team objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as determined by the Shift Manager.
* Provide World Class Service to all customers through the despatching of goods.
* Determine staffing levels and assign workload.
* Deploy staff to other departments within the warehouse so priorities are met.
* Communicate clear precise instructions and job expectations to all warehouse operatives on shift.
* Monitor sickness and absence levels on a daily/weekly basis, ensuring all Return-to-Work paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
* Document all stock movements on a shift basis, through conventional paperwork and in-house database system/mobility.
* Ensure all members of the team are multi-skilled within the Warehouse.
* Where required carry out investigations and deal with conduct/disciplinary issues.
* Undertake performance appraisals and proactively deal with performance.
* Partake in the recruitment process for Warehouse Operatives joining the business.
* Monitor the performance of new starters during the 3-month probationary period.
* Provide a thorough handover at the end of the shift to assist in the smooth running of the next shift.
* Ensure Health & Safety Policies are adhered too, creating a safe working environment.
* Make Sure Warehouse Hygiene tasks are completed by the end of shift.
* Ensure FLT/PPT checklists have been completed whilst on shift.
* Adhere to relevant Safe Working Practices.
* Reporting of shift progress to Shift Manager and Warehouse Manager.
Skills and Experience:
* Experience of working as a Warehouse Supervisor ideally within a Warehouse dealing with clothing.
* Sound knowledge of warehouse systems & procedures.
* Strong proven people manager with the ability to motivate/ engage/communicate with staff and tackle staff performance issues.
* Experience of using technology - handheld scanners etc.
* Sound knowledge of IT software packages (Windows & In-house data bases)
* Flexibility and co-operation in relation to overtime working and assisting other departments when deemed necessary.
* Experience of work scheduling/planning.
* Excellent interpersonal skills
