Salary: GBP22,000-GBP27,000 per annum dependent on experience and hours

Hours: Mon-Fri 8.30am -5pm (flexibility on start and finish times (part time hours considered)

Our company is growing year on year and we are now looking for a highly motivated and proactive Product Development Chemist, QS and Compliance Officer. We are seeking an individual who will have the flexibility to choose to work from home or from our Head Office and Distribution Centre (with at least 1-2 days a week from our Head Office). We distribute Chemicals and Maintenance products throughout the UK and Internationally. This is an excellent opportunity for an early career stage individual looking to work proactively and independently to make a lasting impact on in house product development and compliance.

ROLE

We are looking to recruit a proactive Product Development Chemist, QS and Compliance Officer to join our team, taking a lead on developing new products unique to IMG, whilst also ensuring all of our products adhere to relevant regulations and safety requirements. The position will include a vital liaison and training role with our sales force, you will be responsible for ensuring the sales team have all necessary technical information to enable them to sell products effectively as well as being a key team member in all new product launches. The Head of Sales will also rely on you to produce various reports on product sales and to troubleshoot issues in the supply chain ensuring we always have products ready to sell. You will communicate directly with our current suppliers and be responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with suppliers.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Experimenting & creating to develop our product range with products bespoke to IMG

Working with the sales department and others within IMG to bring on one new innovative product every month, some of these being sourced from suppliers and others being developed in house by yourself

Maintain & update the ExESS system to ensure all Safety Data Sheets comply with EU REACH, CLP and GHS

Hazard classifications

Risk Assessment

UFI creation and PCN, tariff codes

Manage and update regulatory compliance

Advise on labelling content

Advise on changes of legislation, hazard communication, classification & update all documentation (sds, labels, risk assessment and Sales, technical data)

Adding relevant technical data to sales documents

Attending new product exhibitions UK and Europe

Deal with customer complaints and non-conformance issues

Maintain and build the best relationships with our suppliers and visit our manufactures sites

Product training the sales team by video call & sales hub visits (Birmingham, Nantwich & Liverpool), including new starters to the company on their induction and refreshing the established sales team and updating them on any changes to the product

Organising and delivering, new product launches to the sales team, training the whole team in a group environment on the product uses, type of customer, benefits and USP of the product

Providing technical knowledge and support to the sales department and our customers responding directly to customer enquiries

Supporting working collaboratively with the Logistics and Distribution Manager on various supply chain matters

PERSON

Science degree in Chemistry or similar (essential)

Desire to create new products by experimenting, researching, exercising persistence and curiosity

Some professional REACH regulatory experience

Knowledge & experience of CLP, Hazard communications

Confident, personable with an enthusiastic outlook on life, you will be able to communicate effectively at all personnel levels, both internally and externally

The ability to engage team members with different ability and understanding in training sessions

You are someone who enjoys working with others and imparting your knowledge to help and grow colleagues

Ability to prioritise your own workload and work independently

Strong administration skills and attention to detail

Ability to understand the need create new processes and implement them

A flexible approach to your role, allowing you to identify areas that you can add expertise to

Previous QMS experience (desirable) - the responsibility of managing & keeping up to date of the QMS throughout IMG, arranging and leading audits, and promoting the importance of a great QMS system
