Due to an internal promotion we have an opportunity for a diligent, attention to detail led Laboratory Technician to join our professional team.
The Quality Compliance team play a crucial part in making sure that testing is carried out on our yarns and fabric. We are looking for someone with a passionate commitment to maintaining the highest of standards in every aspect of the company’s operations with the aim of achieving total customer satisfaction.
Main Duties include:
- Perform yarn and fabric testing activities whilst coordinating internal and external testing requirements for the laboratory, ensuring customer testing requirements are completed in a timely fashion, reports completed, and results communicated.
- Supervision and training of laboratory staff ensuring the training matrix is maintained and up to date.
- Ensure equipment is calibrated within specified timescales by approved labs and records maintained.
- Create, brief, and monitor detailed SOP’s / work instructions for all testing activities within the lab.
- Manage spare parts and chemical usage, ordering test materials to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Auditing to ensure compliance to appropriate standards, methods, and procedures to promote the company values and to ensure conformance to standards such as ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 and 17025:2017.
- To participate in projects using methods such as Lean Six Sigma, Visual Management, Focused Improvement, Teamwork, 5S, Asset Care, Quality, EH&S and Single-piece flow for the purpose of continuous improvement.
Knowledge, skills & competencies;
- A formal qualification in textiles with excellent knowledge of fabric and fabric finishing.
- Exceptional organisational skills with an ability to plan and coordinate together with a positive systematic approach.
- Great analytical skills to identify patterns and trends and draw meaningful conclusions.
- A proactive team player with strong customer service/problem-solving and negotiation skills.
- A good working knowledge and passion for the principals ISO 9001 & 14001
- Competent to carry out activities under ISO/IEC 17025
