Logistics Coordinator

Location: Newton Aycliffe

Salary: Up to GBP40,000 plus 6% bonus and other exceptional benefits

The healthcare value chain requires fast-moving producers such as my client to develop, make and distribute products essential to protecting the health and well-being of people. The ability to deal with high demand during health emergencies, as well as assure reliable on-going availability of effective products creates goodwill along the value chain and provides an opportunity to develop long-term business.

In this context, the expertise of my client in chemicals and materials combined with the company's entrepreneurial flair, has always played an important role in its success. This is evidenced by the company's ability to enter new markets such as automotive and sports, and, most recently, to reformat existing operations in response to the shortage of hand sanitisers in the UK, France, Germany and the US.

More information on the opportunity:

* They are looking for a Logistics Co-ordinator at their Newton Aycliffe facility initially reporting to the European Supply Chain Manager on a Permanent basis.

* The role will involve supporting the Supply Chain function.

* The Logistics Co-ordinator has accountability for defining and delivering the dispatch plan for all Finished Products, ensuring that customer demand is satisfied, on time, in full and savings on freight costs are maximised.

* The role is crucial to the Hygienics business - with a direct link into all customers the job holder is responsible for identifying solutions to distribution challenges and support the effective delivery of profitability and cash control by understanding the core customers and requirements of the business. Within the operation there are a number of challenges such as optimum delivery load sizes, co-ordinating dispatch operations and minimising additional costs such as demurrage, same day deliveries and overtime.


* Key Responsibilities:

* Ensure all Finished Products are dispatched to the customer in a timely manner, respecting customer order dates and specific requirements.

* Devise and prepare a distribution plan for the business that considers the customer needs whilst focussing on maximising processes and aligning loading to warehouse capacity.

* Drive the success of the distribution plans by challenging internal departments to complete all necessary transactions before stock is due to leave site.

* Maximise the loading of transport and work closely with key freight forwarders to devise a method of maintaining a high TOR and reduce costs to the business.

* Be the focal point of the business in dealing with freight forwarders, organising transport and dealing with any issues arising from distribution complaints.

* Work with external partners to ensure all necessary transport documentation is prepared in full, up front and correctly to avoid any possible issues with delaying deliveries and potential additional costs.

* Achieve and maintain excellent working relationships with all internal and external customers, and where possible, utilise that relationship to maximise cost benefits to the business.

* Keep the SAP system updated with the most current Freight Forwarder rates as well as deal with any queries to invoices received from suppliers that are based on these rates.

* Provide support to the Sales Co-ordinator process where necessary in line with maximising the flexibility of the overall department to cover absence.

* Participate in SHE programmes to ensure that we are continually working safely and that all processes are continually improved.

* Develop oneself in line with company procedures to allow you to contribute your full potential to the success of the business.

* To be aware of the 20 principles of safety and to always follow these principles.


* Level 3 Qualification in a relevant Business discipline or similar (e.g. A-level's, NVQ Level 3, Advanced Apprenticeship)

* A broad knowledge of production planning operations, logistics, safety, commercial, financial and IS business drivers with the ability to understand and respond to customer needs.

* IT Literate

* Management of the international movement of goods

* Good level of experience with 3PLs, freight forwarders and trade bodies

* It would be advantageous of you have experience of using SAP

* Knowledge and understanding of Export documentation requirements.

* Prior knowledge of Logistics procedures and processes.

* Experience of navigating Brexit implications on International Freight/Logistics

* Production Planning experience from within a warehouse/manufacturing setting
