Adecco are currently recruiting on behalf of our global manufacturing client based in Chester who are the UK's leading supplier of products in their industry. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual to join a successful company within a friendly team.

The purpose of this role is to take the lead in driving an increase in performance of Engineered Products manufacturing, specifically in the Machining & Fabrications activities. The position will be fully accountable for performance in Health & Safety, improvement initiatives, people management, throughput, inventory levels, quality of manufactured products, operational costs and the overall condition and effectiveness of equipment.

Responsibilities

The Production Manager will be personally responsible for the following, in the Machine Shop and Fabrications areas:

Complying with Health, Safety & Environmental policies and standards as well as the creation and implementation of improvement plans and actions in HSE
Creation of a robust forward schedule for production, agreed with the sales teams
Determining the most effective manufacturing techniques
People, materials and logistics resource planning and estimating cost and time to manufacture
Agreeing clear objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Ensuring production operations are fully complaint with best practice and clear manufacturing instructions
Management of people, inventory and materials, ensuring the optimisation of their use both within the team and across the business
Driving the training and development of team members, ensuring all team members have a clear training and development plan and that training is up to date
Managing team motivation, policy adherence, performance evaluation, progression, overall discipline, holiday scheduling, attendance
Ensure Quality objectives, targets and requirements are complied with
Producing accurate and timely reports.

The successful candidate will have previous experience within a similar manufacturing environment and have hands-on knowledge and experience in the implementation of modern manufacturing methodologies.

We are seeking candidates with the below attributes;

3-5 years Production Management experience
Specialist knowledge of CNC machining centres, lathes and milling machines.
Good working knowledge of fabrication/welding/sheet metal manufacturing.
Computer literate, experienced in using production planning, scheduling, production monitoring and reporting systems
Trained in Health & Safety management methods
Knowledge of ISO 9000 systems
The ability to translate engineering drawings into a robust and effective manufacturing approach.
Ability to produce accurate estimates of resource costs and times for Machine Shop & Fabrications activities
Change-oriented, a hands-on leader and role model who sets high standards
Superb communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships
Used to working to tight budgets and time constraints
Resilient to setbacks

This role is working 35 hours per week - 8.30am-5 pm Mondays to Thursday, Fridays 8.30am-12.30pm.
