Job Purpose:
To support the Procurement team in developing and implementing new purchasing and buying strategies.
To support the Supply Chain Manager with forecasting, supplier relationship management and supply of bought in goods and components to ensure optimum stock and service levels for production and product distribution to the customer base.
The role will also require all aspects of Purchase Order Management to be undertaken as part of cover for the purchasing team, such as Purchase Order placement, managing the supply chain and ensuring deliveries arrive in a correct and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
To support and implement new purchasing / buying strategies
To continually negotiate and reduce costs across a variety of category spend
To source, evaluate and secure costing for new materials / components
Understand and be able to utilise MRP software
Regularly review and replenish stock levels accurately in demand of varying work loads
Make sure all materials meet specifications and quality standards
Developing contingency plans for all key materials and indirect materials/services
Investigate opportunities for supplier rationalisation.
Be able to improve supplier performance using data-based analytics (cost, lead-time controls, quality)
Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and rectify mistakes and discrepancies.
Develop and maintain supplier relationships
Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals and review requisitions for goods and services
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to forecast, plan and facilitate on-time materials to the production line and customer order requirement as and when required
Provide cover for Purchasing team in all aspects of Purchase Order Management (placing daily orders on suppliers, checking confirmations, chasing overdues
Key Accountabilities:

Key Experiences and Skills Required:
High level of numeracy and literacy.
Have a proven track record in supply-chain management. CIPS qualification preferred
Understanding of a manufacturing/production environment
Previous experience of materials planning ideally in the automotive or manufacturing environment
Good understanding of supply chain processes and their interdependencies
Understanding of supplier relationships and some experience of working with suppliers
Knowledge and experience of using MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems or similar
Good communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally
Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills
Commercial and financial awareness
Ability to use a PC to an operational level.
Results orientated and organised with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
Good working knowledge of IT systems / database packages.
Ability to work on own initiative and as a part of a larger team.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi task.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
