Help us make a difference as a Plant Development Manager. This is a nationwide position, requiring the potential for frequent travel and overnight stays. Responsible for the procurement of feedstocks to fill the major treatment plants within Specialist Services, at Wednesbury bulk treatment, SWaRF and Loughborough aerosol recycling. This role will required to maintain strong volumes which keep the sites close to capacity, whilst building a robust networks of inbound product via 3rd party sales and industry contacts, such that volumes are optimal and yield management of existing volumes can take place.

A quick look at the role.

The Plant Development Manager is accountable for identifying and driving new business activities and existing business profitability management for the key treatment locations within Specialist Services, at Wednesbury, Loughborough and SWARF.

The Plant Development Manager is responsible for understanding the commercial landscape for these treatment locations, then developing robust business pipelines for each location, working in conjunction with operational management, 3rd party industry customers and 'direct' customers to do so.

The post holder is expected to bring a strong commercial experience of the market place to the role, becoming the de facto commercial expert for the treatment business, able to work credibly with internal and external stakeholders across the business.

Responsible for delivering new plant sales volumes at SWaRF, Wednesbury Plant and Loughborough
Working closely with the RGM and depot team to understand volume targets and variable pricing position as volume increases, in order to sell the business at the optimal price point
Building robust pipelines of new prospective volume for all 3 treatment locations with a combination of 3rd party and direct to customer volumes
Developing new business opportunities in line with operational needs and according to Biffa business pillars
Supporting the depot management team with the account management and development of existing key customers, as required
Maintaining strong networks with industry contacts across all treatment locations, allowing us to access short term bulk volume as required
Main commercial point of contact for the treatment facilities, supporting the sales teams across the business as required, on bids and tenders

Here's what we require:

Experience of developing, managing and implementing new business services
Existing network of business contacts
Strong presentation, selling, negotiating and influential skills
Articulate, confident and assertive
Analytical and able to quickly assess issues and recommend and/or implement solutions
Ability to work in partnership with internal departments, (potential) customers and other organisations
Robust and resilient, able to absorb pressure and respond positively
Experience of building and maintaining customer relationships
Solid pragmatic approach to delivering to tight deadlines and targets
Ability to plan, organise and prioritise
Ability to deal with conflict and negotiate / manage the appropriate outcome
Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and on own initiative
The ability to communicate with conviction, plan with precision and, most importantly, play well with others.
Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths, however A-Levels or a Degree certainly won't do any harm.Benefits
