Training Area Operative

We currently have an exciting opportunity at Donna Nook Air Weapons Range for a Variable Hours, Training Area Operative. This is a flexible role, offering you the opportunity to work around commitments that you already have or it can just be a way of earning some extra money. As a variable hours member of staff we can only guarantee you a minimum of 8 hours a month, and this will usually be early mornings and late evenings and could easily fit in around another job alternatively you may be looking for something to do in your spare time, as this role is very much for someone who enjoys working out on military ranges.
As the Training Area Operative you will be responsible for carrying out any duties within your capability as required to support estate delivery focusing on but not limited to Training Areas and to ensure that the Training Estate Facilities are fit for purpose.
Individuals rotate between Quad Operator, Range Warden, Range and Ground Maintenance duties
Please be aware this is a variable hours position, Landmarc will only be able to offer you a minimum of 8 hours a month.
• Quad Operator Duties:
o Ensuring that members of the public do not enter the Surface Danger Area; reporting as necessary if they do.
o When aircraft are bombing utilize the equipment to identify and mark the impact area of the practice bombs.
• Range Duties:
o Preparing range for use - flags and night lights; putting out mobile targets / lights.
o Manufacturing and maintaining targets
o Using various tools electrical/petrol/battery**
o Range Warden - Focal point for public at main entrance from public car park and ensuring no incursions to the North of the Range.
o Control of access,
o Reporting defects,
o Report and deal with unauthorized persons on the Training Area Estate.
o Handover/ take back of facilities
o Radio procedures
o Carry out pre planned maintenance around site.
o Safety person for Munition Debris Removal Operative**
o Seal management**
• Grounds maintenance Duties:
o SSSI site and NNR
o Grass cutting using push and ride on mowers**
o Brushcutting/Strimming**
o Hedge Trimming**
o Fence mending**
• Additional Duties (by selection/qualifications):
o Munition Debris Removal
o Control Tower Bomb Score Operator (can lead to Main Tower Assistant duties)
o Airfield Support Tasks (dependent on electrical/electronic qualifications)
• Driving:
o Full UK driving license is required.
o Required to Drive Tractors and JCB**.
o Able to drive to other sites in region.
What you can do:
• Knowledge in H&S such as COSHH, manual handling, risk assessment and safe systems of work
• Have an experience as a range/training area user
• Experience of track and fencing maintenance
• Have a full drivers licence valid in the United Kingdom and where required, hold a specialist licences e.g. HGV, PCV
• Ability to operate rural plant and machinery (holds valid certificate)
• Willingness to undertake training to work in high risk areas e.g. Transporting dangerous loads
