Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer to further their professional development in an organisation at the forefront of Electronic Warfare (EW) innovation, technology, and capability provision. The Principal Systems Engineer will work within an integrated project team to deliver a comprehensive EW training capability that provides export customers with a sovereign capability. The EW training solution will comprise a set of fully integrated software toolsets providing a complete end-to-end EW operational support (EWOS) workflow.

The Principal Systems Engineer will work across the full systems engineering lifecycle, providing expertise and guidance at all stages of execution and at key review points. The Principal Systems Engineer will be required to proactively apply their knowledge of though-life requirements management, integration and testing (design and execution), and certification and acceptance through evidence-based compliance.

The Principal Systems Engineer will work within the Integrated Mission Systems business group, which forms part of our Electronic Warfare line of business. This permanent role offers flexible working via our custom working policy, which gives employees the ability to work on-site or remotely to balance both personal and business needs.

EWKnowledge: A role within the IMS systems engineering team provides unique exposure to a wide-variety of EW products and subject-matter experts, as well as the ability to interact directly with external stakeholders to understand their needs in the context of the overall system solution.

Work across the full engineering lifecycle, with a focus on design, compliance and acceptance.
Support engineering execution, review, and change processes iaw project guidelines.
Elicit, interpret, influence, and capture, current and future stakeholder needs and requirements, and establish agreed routes to compliance and acceptance with subject-matter experts.
Influence customer satisfaction by applying your knowledge to develop effective solutions.
Ensure that design decisions are clearly documented and shared with the team.
Work alongside development teams, (both internally and subcontracted), to ensure interfaces between products are clearly defined, complete and understood.
Assess and manage subcontractor-provided subsystem solutions, ensuring their compliance with performance, functionality, and interoperability requirements.
Support the integration of subsystems into the overall system solution and perform system-level verification testing.

You really must have:

Extensive expertise and experience of the systems engineering lifecycle stages and reviews.
Experience with multi-stakeholder requirements elicitation, definition, traceability, and evidence-based compliance, ideally using DOORS.
Ability to define test and acceptance criteria and assess system design compliance against user and system requirements.
Understanding of key RF signal processing principles for passive sensors or active emitters.
Understanding of the EWOS lifecycle and supporting EW software tools.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with experience of delivery to a variety of internal and external stakeholders of varying seniorities.
Aptitude for problem solving and ability to drive difficult issues to conclusion in support of team goals.
Ability to excel in a target-driven environment where self-motivation and determination ensure that challenging schedules are met

It would be nice if you had:

Significant experience of working within the EWOS lifecycle, including the use of EW programming toolsets.
Experience of working alongside end-users to provide SME support.
Experienced in software development for product delivery to external customers.
Knowledge of Middle-Eastern culture
